Quite nutty in aroma and especially in taste. Quite smooth texture. Slight bitterness but not enough that it’s off-putting.

Drink cool (10-12°C) Eye: Pours a clear, ruby, reddish-brown, almost purple looking color with a small white, regular head. Nose: nuts, redcurrant, berries, candy, honey, red clover. Mouth: smooth, nuts, coriander, red grapes, red or black berries. Palate: nuts again, chocolaty, blueberries. Overall: bit like a watery stout. still very good and somehow fruity beer.

500ml bottle from Beer Dock, Crewe. Pours red brown with off white head. Quite a malty dunkel but very drinkable. I prefer my Munich dunkels a bit sweeter than this.

Augustiner Dunkel (DE) - Dunkel - 5.6% - 3.8/5

On tap at Augustiner am Platzl. Dark ruby red color, very nice and intense, almost mahogany in distance, clear in see thru. Offwhite pinkish head. Aroma is fruity, wine wort, dark grapes, toasted malts, cereals. Taste is well balanced, proper bitter finish rather dry but still smooth. Medium bodied, average carbonation, excellent classic dunkel.
