3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 thedm (4124) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - OCT 10, 2004
The DM & Hotstuff’s European Honeymoon trip beer number 53. This draft brew from the Unionsbrau brauhaus in Munich Germany poured a large sized head of large sized off-white colored mostly diminishing bubbles that left behind a uncarbonated dark brown colored semi-transparent body and a fair lacing. The aroma was a mild brown malty one. The mouth feel was unnoted. The flavor was nice with malt hop brown malts and caramel malty notes.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - SEP 27, 2004
Oh, my. Had this on tap at the original haus. Pretty darn impressive. In fact, this is the best beer that they offer. This costs a whopping 0.99 euros at the localo grocery stores. I would slap my grandmother for a beer this good at the local grocer in the states. Brown to dark amber in color, substantial head, memorable aroma and flavor of a dunkel malt. You morons are crazy for not loving this. Maybe you plebians have never had itn fresh on tap at the source?

Bottle. Excellent head, beautiful dark brown colour, smooth, caramel and malty. It has a light mouthfeel to it and is extremely drinkable. I love it.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 marcusm (55) - Remich, LUXEMBOURG - JUL 20, 2004
Tried on draught at Augustiner, Aroma of dark malts, a head that subsides slowly, Coulour is a dark amber and clear!. Flavour of the augustiner family but less pronounced than the Maximator, ending simply. Not really my kind of beer, but well made at any rate.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Aldrighetti (162) - Coltura, ITALY - FEB 25, 2004
On tap. Dark chestnut brown with a large creamy head. Clean dark malt aroma, "bready", sweet flavor, almost syrupy. Medium to light body, short finish.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 chriso (7063) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 15, 2004
Bottled. Energetic when first opened, but head soon disperses, leaving a few beaded bubbles winking at the brim. The beer has a very alluring dark ruby/chestnut colour. The aroma has caramel, nuts and a smidgen of liquorice. It has a sweetish burnt wood, malt and coffee flavour, but the body is somewhat insubstantial. There is some bite, but this is derived more from the prickle on the tongue and from residual yeast than from hops. Initially pulls up a little short and lacking in grip but, out of the blue, a dark chocolate bitterness appears on the scene quite forcefully, if a little late in the day. This is a very agreeable beer, but its shortcomings, whilst not critical, exclude it from the top rank of dunkels.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 dortmunder (961) - Herdecke, GERMANY - NOV 13, 2003
Clear, dark ruby red colour. Slightly off-white head with large bubbles on top. Caramalty nose. Caramelly, a bit sweet in taste. Bitter aftertaste. Body is a bit watery. Somehow I feel an imbalance between the watery body and the bitter finish.
