Draught. Medium and compact foam, discreet duration. Burnt brown color, dark and torbid. Medium bubbly and fizz. Unpleasant scent, bitter and similar to medicinal. Extremely unbalanced taste, bitter and toasted. Dry and little refreshing.

3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Love at first drink with this beer. Went to Munich and tried a good 5-6 beers and by far this was the best. Great flavor and VERY smooth taste.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 10, 2011 My Bottom Line :
Slightly toasted and roasted, this silky Dunkel is at once able to quench and please the tastebuds, with its chocolatey, fruity edges balanced out in the finish by wooden hops.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A slice of foam tops the elegant burgundy with orange edges.
-Malts also offer nutty angles at times.
-Drinkability on this one is as high as in their Edelstoff.
-Malts are never linear, which tends to be the case in most Dunkels, I find.
On tap at Augustiner Bierhalle und Restaurant.

Bottle: Dark amber with reddish tints, medium-sized fluffy off-white head; quickly diminishing; good malty nose (roasted malts), a bit sweetish with hints of raisins;starts sweetish; medium bodied sweet malty flavour becoming dryer towards the end, slightly bitter aftertaste with some traces of (smoked?) roasted malts. Very good.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Near opaque to the eye, dark tan head. Very nice sweet aroma - cookie, dark malts, caramel...and some paper in there, as another rater pointed out but it didn’t really detract from it. Tastes largely of cookie dough...incredibly sweet in an original take on the style. Pretty good.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle with the label "munich dark malt liquor" maybe that had something to do with the texas laws. pours a deep mahogony with a cola like off-white head. sweet malt aroma that was slightly oxidized and dusty. mostly plums and dark fruits. flavors are malty as the aroma suggests. not realy my thing, but not bad nonetheless.
