A Mes rate: 50cl bottle from Quinns. Love the red brown colour. Thin head but it lasts well. Very strong chocolate malt with some milk and toffee. Another cereal heavy German beer, especially in the finish.

Murky mud-like brown color with no head. A malty, syrupy aroma. Strong malt flavor with ample nuttiness. A bit of bread as well. Solid.

Drunk during lunch at the Augustiner Keller. This helped to create an affinity for a new beer style. Mahogany brown with an accompanying off-white head. Nutty, coffeeish. A good beer to drink under the trees in the early spring day.

Vom fass @ Augustiner Bräu, München, Germany.
Bright, tawny chestnut body with medium, fine carbonation. Big, signature off-white head formed that held and messed up the glass. Subtle biscuity, caramel sweetness to a nose dominated by woody and dusty dark malts. Ripe tangy fruit and soft chocolate malts in the mouth. Quite woody like the aroma, feint roasted malt edge in there, a little astringent and metallic in back. Body is light and the carbonation annoyingly prickly making it harshly crisp in the swallow. Nice woody, chocolate malt finish. A little all over the place considering the other brews of this Bayerisch classic Brauerei. One to try again once I’m back in München, hopefully soon!!!

Slick (1969) - Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA - OCT 3, 2006
Dark brown/amber color, small off white head that had a decent hangtime then faded to leave little behind. The aroma was lightly roasty with some caramel and maybe a bit of a smoke side but hard to say.The flavor was pretty decent,Nice malty roasty side with a decent sweet caramel and mild fruit showing.Over all the brew is fairly smooth and easy to drink and well worth having a few more around for later.

Bottle. Small head with short duration. Color is clear brown. Aroma is caramel and roast malt but not very strong. Taste is caramel and roast malt as well. A bit more dull than other German dunkels.

Dark amber with a light brown head. Very soft aroma of brown sugar and caramel. The flavour and body are just as light, with more sweetness from caramel, and a very light spicy hop. Just feels too weak overall.

Bottled. Amber coloured. Unclear. Light brown dense head. Sweet, malty, light prunes, and brown sugar in the aroma. Fruity dusty flavour. Plums, light roast, cocoa and brown sugar as well. Medium bodied. Fruity light roasted end. Good one.
