2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
50cl bb05/2015, Maruhn. Very worty aroma with sourish notes of red berry, savoury hinty stale salted nuts, Sauerkraut and manure: the complete whiff of a Brauhaus seems to have been bottled here... Taste and mouthfeel are very mineral, wort reduced like beef broth and triggered immediate sensory reactions of Leberknödelsuppe/liver dumpling soup: meaty, lean, savoury - quite the experience, almost had to keep sipping malgré moi. Dry, sourish wort finish. - Remember this being much more standard Dunkel, even creamy on tap? To be revisited...

Quite nutty in aroma and especially in taste. Quite smooth texture. Slight bitterness but not enough that it’s off-putting.

500ml bottle from Beer Dock, Crewe. Pours red brown with off white head. Quite a malty dunkel but very drinkable. I prefer my Munich dunkels a bit sweeter than this.
