3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 ElGaucho (1862) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - JAN 12, 2003
Bottle purchased at a Munich gas station and enjoyed in my hotel room at the Bayerischer Hof. Sweet malt, grain aroma. Yellow body with substantial carbonation, creamy, white head (smallish). Slowly, mostly disappating head. Excllent lace. High appearance mark is based on comparison to other lagers. Flavor is on the sweet side. Pretty good and flavorful for a lager. Creamy, smooth finish. One of the best lagers I have had. Very enjoyable. The folks at Augustiner appear to know what they are doing.
4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Gaffer99 (7) - London, ENGLAND - DEC 24, 2002 does not count
Not necessarily typical of it’s type, it’s non the less got the colour, fizz, and the head of a pilsner. But with that tangy citrus finish it’s a knockout. My favourite lager.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 bierkoning (8099) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - NOV 30, 2002
UPDATED: JUN 28, 2008 Bottle. Malty orange-aroma, just a bit soapy. Malty taste with slight orange and cherry flavors. Full bodied beer with a clean palate, but rather bland.
Tap, Gasthaus in Pfronten-Ried. Flowery aroma with a hint of butter. malty, buttery, flowery flavor. Flour in the mouth. Medium to full bodied. A helles in the best tradition. (6 3 7 3 12 is equal to 3.1)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 lovibond (115) - New York, USA - NOV 18, 2002
Lives up to its name! I find this better balanced than a Pils, but hoppier than the Helleses from the rest of Munich’s Big 6.
3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Bronstein (175) - Göttingen, GERMANY - NOV 17, 2002
Excellent export lager impressing with the finest malt flavours. Full head. A mouthful of taste. Good palate!. A little bit too sweet after a while.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 eczematic (1297) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - OCT 10, 2002
not too excited by this the second time round. pale, slightly nutty, a bit thin, and underwhelming flavourwise.

nothing really wrong with it, just a little boring
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 pivo (2540) - GERMANY - SEP 5, 2002
Pleasant malt nose that is a little hay-like. Pee-yellow color and no head – not very attractive. Sweet light malt taste up front that turns citrusy and ends with a delicate bitter finish. Round mouth feel and a full-ish body. Pretty OK.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 YogiBeera (2436) - Hamburg, GERMANY - SEP 3, 2002
Hoppy, citrus aroma. Pee yellow and no head. The hoppy flavor leads to a sweet finish. It is balanced but definitly a bad hangover beer.
