2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
High availabilty and so the first choice in local pubs, when there is no other decent beer available. Typical Müncher Helles: very smooth and (a bit too) sweet, light body, average carbonation. Without any bitterness, quite short finish. Reasonable everyday beer, but nothing special.

Flaske, 50 cl, på lusket bar et eller andet sted i Hamborg. Lys. Hvidt lavt skum. Mild duft af hø, græs, lyst brød. Svag humle, let maltsødme. Ok.

Pours a nice clear yellow with decent head that sticks around for a while. Aroma is grassy and bready with a softer malty taste. Aftertaste is short but generally not too hoppy or bitter. Otherwise nothing special. Mostly for those not seeking much taste.

Bottle, thanks Hart. Pours a clear yellowy gold with a large, white head. Aroma is quite grassy and quite strawy with some grain. Taste is much of the same as well. Light, hard carbonation, refreshing. Good.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
A beer first experienced in Munich in 2010. I quickly heard Augustiner was the local favorite of the big 6 and of course had to try it. Many liters later, it was my favorite as well. This is one of those beers that has nothing truly special about it, other than the fact that it’s perfect. Which is to say, stylistically, it’s "boring" - lager. But I’ll take a beer this perfectly balanced, perfectly drinkable, perfectly honest ANY day over the craziest sours, hoppiest IPAs, and booziest stouts. Best enjoyed in mass form straight from the wooden cask at Augustiner Keller, but this holds up to form even out of the bottle (crate brought back to Belgium from Rothenberg-odT to confirm). This easily makes my top few candidates for "if I could choose one beer to drink for the rest of my life..."
