2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20

On tap at Oktoberfest 2007. 2nd Beer of the Festival. Golden colour. Yellow and clear. Skunky, watery nose. Hoppy and grassy pilsener taste. Solid.

Maß at Augustiner tent on 9-27-07. First beer of the festival. Lightest gold color of the oktoberfests, thinnest. Not as good as I was expecting, and every other one I tried after was better. The chicken at the Augustiner tent was the best though...

bottle. Clear pale yellow, medium-size head. Fruity and very malty, very full-bodied, slightly hoppy and bitter in the finish. Long-lasting fruity aftretaste.

Yet another Augustiner retro rate, this was tasted with a range of beers from the brewery that I sold a few years ago, supplied by Mr Olaf Schellenberg. This was a crackin’ festbier "WOW!" says my notes.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Maß in one of the big tents at the Wiesn, Oktoberfest 2004. Deep golden coloured. Malty and bready aroma and flavour with hoppy notes. Also some notes of tea.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml bottle: Poured pale yellow with a smallish white head. Skunky herbal hop aroma and little else. I don’t particularly like those herbal hops, especially the smell. Flavor was herbal as well and quite sweet. Took a little adjustment on my part but not entirely offensive, just perhaps the beginning.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: FEB 6, 2011 Bottled - Criterion - Leicester. A pale gold coloured beer with a minimal white head. The aroma is crisp and lagerish with a touch of butter. The taste is similar: crisp and creamy and sweet. Minimal hop notes just a touch of sweet malt and inflated alcohol. I did enjoy it more as I got lower down the bottle but it lacked presence. Score 2.9
Subsequent rating scored 3.4. Average becomes 3.1

500 ml bottle.. ..Hints of malt with strong noble hop aroma.. .. Clear, Lt Gold pour with short lasting white head.. .. Malty flavor, fairly sweet with hops in the middle and very sweet finish.. .. Smooth, light-to-medium body.. .. This is the actual stuff they serve at Oktoberfest (contrasts to the orangey oktoberfest-style beer made by other breweries and sold in bottles, not in the tents). It’s a tasty german beer - more oomph in the sweetness. Picked this up in Munich after the oktoberfest and brought it home to sample along side other oktoberfest style beers (Paulaner, etc).

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Very pale clear yellow colour with a large white (but soon flat) head. Was expecting a bit more in the taste - what with 6% it tasted a bit empty and thin.
