Bottle from Arden Wines. Shrubby hop, honey, biscuit and rubber glove aroma. Thick, lemony and diabetes-inducing; honey on white toast, cream and sweetcorn sweetness. Slick brilliant gold with a dense rocky collar receding to a slick. Bread, vanilla and Ready Break afters. Oh dear. 2 masses of this and I’d be under the table. Quite possibly in lederhosen. A tooth-jangling jammy cream horn of a beer. Naughty.

UPDATED: JUL 8, 2009 From Bootlegger in Paris. This poured a woefully clear and light straw-coloured body under a sparse white head, complimented by an aroma that wasn’t anything. Such things do not usually bode well. However, the taste was acceptable, although perhaps a little too sweet for me. All in all, an okay session beer but not a stunner by any means.

Bottle 50 cl. Clear pale golden with a very white head. Clean and malty nose. Quite a solid malt base and very clean also. A little low in carbonation. Lightly bitter finish. 220309

Bottle 50cl.
Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, toasted, sour malt notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft. [20090322]

I’ve had many of these over the years at the Oktoberfest in Munich. It’s my favorite of the beers at the festival. A very nice light golden color with a nice yeasty aroma. A good white head and a smooth, almost sweet (not in a malty way) flavor which is unlike most beers I prefer (bitter). The aftertaste is pleasant and makes me long for more every time.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Tastes strong, spicy, good use of hops. The alcohol is well hidden. Intense and well balanced finish. Good! Thanks to joss for the bottle!

Golden colored with little yellow head. Hopped aroma with sweet fruits and lemon, very traditional oktoberfest aroma with thin alcohol. Medium bodied. Flavor is same: fruits and lemon, some hops, aftertaste dries with some cardboard and thin alcohol. Clean and good with a style.
