3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 LordCorkscrew (1758) - Ronco Scrivia (GE), ITALY - NOV 19, 2007

Tap. Drank a fair amount of this stuff in a hostel in Munich. Not too impressionable. I remember more how the English Bartender would not stop talking about how it had never been "put into a tin".
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Jukkabro (3471) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 22, 2007
Light yellow colored, medium sized white head. Strongly hopped and floral pils aroma, reminds me of some Swedish pilsners, I mean these good ones. Medium bodied. Flavor is also excellent with this same floral-yeasty sweetness, which is cut strongly by bitter hops. Hops last in aftertaste with lemon. Again I have to say, Augustiner is one of my favourite breweries.

Tap in Munich 0,5ltr: Decent pilsener from Munich’s better brewery, golden looks, crispy taste and fine bitter finish.

Bottle 0,33l at the Brauereigasthof Weißbräu, Deisenhofen 17 Jun 07. Pale golden coloured. A large creamy head. Modest hoppy aroma. Bitter, fruity flavor with a dry, bitter finish. A decent pilsener.
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rune (4924) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUL 5, 2007
Sampled from a 330ml bottle at Brauereigasthof Weissbräu in Deisenhofen. Pale yellow, in fact with a greenish touch to the body colour. Some lasting white head. Moderate aroma of flowers and fruits. Flavour of fresh hops with a rounded bitter finish. Very refreshing. Yet another delicious German pilsener (17.06.2007).

Bottle into it’s own tall flute @ Augustiner Bräu, München, Germany. I could personally nominate this one for numerous awards because it was, honestly, the finest example of a Deutsch Pilsner I have ever tasted. It poured with excitement, the flurry of well trapped carbonation arousing a magnificent fluffy white crest that stabilised a good 2 inches thick and drabbed a wickedly fine lace down the glass. The body - the part I’m more interested in - a sparkling, dazzling yellow straw. Upon ordering this I appeared quite effeminate in light of our hosts - some Irish backpackers out for a lark - yet by the end we seemed to be quaffing a bottle each on the side of our steins of Vollbier. Aroma is so tight, so clean, and full of fresh cut flowers, finely chopped mint leaves, a heavy dose of fresh cracked pepper and a subtle mineral water edge. Dry, spicy and predominately hoppy palate, so delicate it could go up against the finest sparkling waters. A light showing of pine litters some pale malts that sit comfortably upfront. A sour edge grips, a heavy spice tails and some naughty hops wreak havoc on the swallow. Quite bitter, it draws in a surmountable amount of saliva making each sip need a follow up gulp. It finishes so clean, so bitter and so fresh it could pass as mouth-wash for desperate men needing a bit of Dutch courage - or in this case Deutsch courage. This stuck in my mind as the best, most balanced and most easily quaffable pilsners out there. It is worth a try, I don’t think notes quite describe just how good it is. Cheers!!!
