4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
My Bottom Line :
Grassy, herbal hops float atop crisp straw-like malts in this smashing dry and bubbly Pils.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A sheet of foam clings to the pale yellow.
-Carbonation is much higher than I expected. This almost feels like champagne when sipped right after pouring.
-The finish is particularly dry; I’d like to do a side-by-side with Rothaus Pils...
-The hop character is engaging and is never overtaken by the effervescence; that is a long hop aftertaste for a Pils.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ the brauhaus in Munich. Pale yellow gold, foamy towering head displaying excellent retention. Aroma has nice grassy herbal hop character but unfortunately is marred by sulfurous eggy notes. I’m guessing dirty lines. palate is crisp straw malts with assertive herbaceous green hop character and drying bitterness. Tasty.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2015 Tap at the Schranke in Nuremberg. Brilliant gold, clear, tall fine head. Clean, herbal nose, crackers and lemon. Lemony flavor, light biscuits, herbs, grass. Very fresh and clean, but with a solid south German malt background. Not the most flavorful pils I have had lately, but damn good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 10, 2008 Bottle, Augustiner Großgaststatte, Munich. Pale, pillowy and spritzy. Amazing fresh woodsy/Belgian-like aroma, gaseous and hoppy. Lemony grassy hop, pale biscuity/peanutty malt, medium bitterness restrained for a German pils. Fresh, woodsy, malty lager with an appetising tang of hop back-up. Looks like a Radler. Can’t pinpoint the Belgianess, but it’s in there. Pure, undiluted quality.

rbesg08 grand tasting, bottled. i was quite surprised that i had not rated this before but perhaps it was not available at the augustiner place in munich when i was there. anyways, typically bavarian pils - pale yellow, clean grassy aroma, quick in the mouth though not particularly bitter

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330 ml bottle. BBE 03/2012.
Pours a clear golden colour with a small white head. Aroma of sweet malts, light grains and some citrus. Flavour of grainy malts, strong grassy hops, citrus, herbs, bubblegum and honey. Medium bodied, quite high carbonation and a surprisingly bitter, dry and grassy finish. After a while some sweet honey notes and herbs in the finish as well. Really a tasty pils.
