Tap in Munich 0,5ltr: Decent pilsener from Munich’s better brewery, golden looks, crispy taste and fine bitter finish.

Greatest pils i tasted in a long time. Yellow colour with a medium mostly lasting head. Not much aroma but a powerful hoppy taste and finish.

On tap at the original haus in Munich. Fantastic bier! Crisp and true to style. Good hop character with a delicious after-bite. Bright yellow in color, whit head and a solvency that vanquishes the mustard served mit der weissen sausages.

Light yellow colored, medium sized white head. Strongly hopped and floral pils aroma, reminds me of some Swedish pilsners, I mean these good ones. Medium bodied. Flavor is also excellent with this same floral-yeasty sweetness, which is cut strongly by bitter hops. Hops last in aftertaste with lemon. Again I have to say, Augustiner is one of my favourite breweries.

At Augustinerkeller in München. Poured pale golden in colour with fluffy white head. Fruity, malty and buttery aroma. Flavour slightly malty with quite a lot of grassy bitterness.

(Bottle, thanks mybestfriend) Pours yellow with a white head. The aroma is of herbal and grassy hops alongside a dry-ish, grainy, hay-like and bready malt profile. Light wet cardboard oxidation. Hints of corn, otherwise a typical German nose. The flavour is light sweet to dry and medium bitter. Almost black tea like bitterness. Dry, grainy and hay-ish malt. The mouthfeel is clean with a medium carbonation. Lingering, hoppy and bitter finish. Light to medium bodied.

Bottle into it’s own tall flute @ Augustiner Bräu, München, Germany.
I could personally nominate this one for numerous awards because it was, honestly, the finest example of a Deutsch Pilsner I have ever tasted. It poured with excitement, the flurry of well trapped carbonation arousing a magnificent fluffy white crest that stabilised a good 2 inches thick and drabbed a wickedly fine lace down the glass. The body - the part I’m more interested in - a sparkling, dazzling yellow straw. Upon ordering this I appeared quite effeminate in light of our hosts - some Irish backpackers out for a lark - yet by the end we seemed to be quaffing a bottle each on the side of our steins of Vollbier. Aroma is so tight, so clean, and full of fresh cut flowers, finely chopped mint leaves, a heavy dose of fresh cracked pepper and a subtle mineral water edge. Dry, spicy and predominately hoppy palate, so delicate it could go up against the finest sparkling waters. A light showing of pine litters some pale malts that sit comfortably upfront. A sour edge grips, a heavy spice tails and some naughty hops wreak havoc on the swallow. Quite bitter, it draws in a surmountable amount of saliva making each sip need a follow up gulp. It finishes so clean, so bitter and so fresh it could pass as mouth-wash for desperate men needing a bit of Dutch courage - or in this case Deutsch courage. This stuck in my mind as the best, most balanced and most easily quaffable pilsners out there. It is worth a try, I don’t think notes quite describe just how good it is. Cheers!!!

Bottled 33cl. Courtesy of joss. It pours a pale yellow beer with a decent white head. Dissapointing aroma of grain, sulphur, soy sauce, grass, mediocre earthy hops and compost. Boiled vegetables in the taste. Low bitterness. Grainy. Some gooseberries, cannabis and wax sneaking in. The flavor is better than the nose. Low bitterness. Actually quite malt accentuated with a hint of lemon. Dryish finish. I didn’t enjoy this Pils. Thanks a lot joss!
