2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cloudy golden with a small head and good retention. Aroma of banana, grains, cloves and yeast. The flavour is also very wheaty, with some light banana and clove. The finish is dry and grainy. Nothing spectacular here, but worth a try.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours cloudy and golden with a thin, mostly maintained white head. Aroma is sweet, with fruity yeast, clove, honey, and banana. Taste is crisp wheat, spicy yeast, with a bit of clove. Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with lush carbonation. Better than Hofbrau’s hefe, not as good as Lowenbrau or Ayinger.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
One of the best Hefeweizen you can get. Not widely known. Not the standard ultra-heated stuff that preserves formoths. Needs to be consumed fresh and fats. Fully bodied, fresh taste. Keep in mind that this beer HAS alcohol in it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (500ml). part of the German care package brought back by my friend Austin - in an Erdinger Weiss glass. Cloudy amberish orange, huge lasting foamy white head. Nice tart aroma - lemon, orange, candyish malt, slightly peppery yeast, a little banana and soft herbal hops lingering around in the background. Soft, simple taste - light fruit (apple and banana), hint of lemon and wheat - the yeast is behaved and there’s little tartness here, although it’s not really sweet either - nice. It’s perhaps a little watery, but that’s being picky - it’s fruity, refreshing, nicely carbonated and leaves no aftertaste. Not world-beating, but I’m going to enjoy the second bottle of this that’s still in my fridge.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Not really much a difference between the whole lot of hefeweizens. this wasn’t bad at all.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Strange grassy aroma. Very cloudy orange colour. Big unstable head. Mildly wheaty flavour, some banana. Turns a little citric. Leaves a rubbery feeling in my mouth. A bit disappointing.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Thick cloudy orange with an uncontrollable creamy beige head, thick enough to cut. Powerful aroma of wheat and yeast, cloves, bananas, and a little biscuit/pie crust. Taste is spicy wtih a new notes of caramel and vanilla, and is somewhat watery. Yeasty wheaty bubblegum is principal, but not cloying. Short and unremarkable finish, very dry aftertaste. Nice and relaxed Weizen.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Augustiner beer hall. Great balance of all the right hefeweizen flavors (banana, bubblegum, fresh bread, clove) with none of the wrong ones. Fluffy mouthfeel, satisfying but easy to drink. One of the best hefeweizens froma recent trip to Bavaria.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the Augustiner Bierhall. Hazy, bold and glowing orange in color with a booming, nearly two inch, foamy white head. Cleansing lemons and orange are shining stars in the nose, complimented by fruity bananas and cantaloupe. Throw in some cloves and vanilla underneath it all and we’re in paradise. Flavor keeps that momentum going. A slight accent of tin comes in, but it’s trumped by a citric orange crème libation. Carbonation harmoniously joins with banana nougats and clove delicacy. Quaffs are extensively delicious, as a sugary vanilla cream danish engulfs the palate. Flavor never dips for a second. Cool, confident and dead-on effervescence. Spicing and sweetening wrote the book on how to hefe. Lemon meringue and orange toffee segway to a banana cream pie’s graham cracker crust and vanilla buttercream, leading to a finish that summarizes all of the above. So f’in good.
