3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A truly average wheat here -- beautiful darkish (for a hefe) color gives it a nice look in the glass. Full-on wheated nose with a bit of alcohol (?). Taste is too thick for me, nearly syrupy -- simply a bit of a letdown after the glass.

Dark blond, small head. Aroma is less fruity than some other hefe wiesses, it’s more pilsner-like. INbetween a pilsner and a weizen. A little bit fruit int the taste, aftertaste could last longer, nice but not my favourite.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
The last of the retro Augustiner tasting. My notes tell me it is my second favourite wheat beer, no.1 at this time was Maisel’s hefeweise.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
500ml Bottle from Augustiner am Gendarenmarkt, Berlin (€3.90):
Strong wheat aroma, some spice & cloves as well. Fresh notes with some bubblegum followed by citrus. Fairly strong on the nose & lively too.
Cloudy amber with golden tinges & 3cm fluffy head that holds well.
A good combination of wheat & cloves followed by citrus & some bubblegum. An odd touch of spice but the beer seems fresh with some orange & banana flavours here too.
Very smooth with a lively body & strong carbonation. Some sweetness dotted about the place, mainly from the banana in the taste & no bitterness.
Very enjoyable & remarkably easy to drink, refreshing too. Another excellent beer from Augustiner & one that I’d likely pick up again although only Edelstoff & their Lagerbier Hell are easily available in the UK it seems.

Poors cloudy orange with white head.
Aroma banana, yeast, malts.
Taste weak, little sweat, little bitter.
Mouth-feel thin, bit creamy.
Weak weissbeer, it’s ok but taste is little to weak.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: DEC 15, 2014 500ml Weizen glass enjoyed @ Augustiner restaurant @ Munich Oktoberfest 2012.
A: Pours a dark orange color. A bit cloudy but definitely filtered Weissbier. Huge creamy and viscous head is formed leaving many small chunks of foam in the glass
S: Great banana esters in the nose. Spicy in the Weiss style, with notes of cloves, honey, wheat, bread and finally the yeasts. No hops so far...
T: Sweet upfront with notes of honey, sweet malts, some caramel malts. Banana bread, cloves, wheat and yeasts. In overall, a sweet beer. Smooth. No noticeable hops bitterness
M: Very smooth mouth sensation, a light to medium creamy body and low retention. Sweet bread aftertaste
O: Excellent drinkability. Good example of an authentic German Weissbier

50cL bottle. Tried and true...what a great beer. A really traditional fresh-tasting weissbier. Dark yellow, hazy, monster head. Citrus notes, banana. You could do a LOT worse.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Orange colour. Quickly diminishing head. Creamy, smooth mouthfeel. Citric, yeasty taste, not so much banana or cloves. Slightly sweet. Hoppy finish. A rather unusual weizen. Not exactly my cup of tea.
