On a pilgrimage for immortal craft beer we tripped on these heavenly drops of amazingly overwhelming aromas, a thick fudge-like body, pitch black color and obviously only made in limited amount. And then the taste....even more jesus! Produced and bottled by Evil Twin Brewing at Companyia Cervesera del Montseny SLL. Catalunya, Spain.

330 ml bottle into snifter, 2015 vintage bottling. Pours dense pitch black color with a small dense dark brown head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, dark bread, molasses, licorice, raisin, prune, fig, leather, tobacco, wood smoke, light char, herbal, light pepper, and roast/smokey earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, dark bread, molasses, licorice, raisin, prune, fig, leather, tobacco, wood smoke, light char, herbal, light pepper, and roast/smokey earthiness. Good amount of herbal/spicy/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, dark bread, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, wood smoke, light char, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and balance with intense robustness of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and extremely full bodied; with a very creamy, silky, slick, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is insane. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a world class imperial stout as expected. All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the huge ABV. This is nearly identical to Even More Jesus as expected; but it seems to be stronger on earthy hop flavors and bitterness; which also seem to make it drier and smoother overall. An insanely amazing offering all around.

September 11, 2015 - bottle from Blue Max. Black pour with small tan head that faded quickly. Aroma was roasted malt and chocolate. Taste was consistent with aroma and some alcohol. Finish was dry and bitter.

My Bottom Line:
Roasted dark coffee beans stip atop molasses and a raisiny frame, a rich flavor profile that thrives all the way into the minty, resinous finish, returning for a lengthy aftertaste.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A healthy head of foam tops the super black. This folks is a very dark pour.
-The carbonation level is just high enough to offset the near-viscosity from the residual sugars.
-This is not a linear malt profile, which I appreciate greatly.
-This is a very serious Imperial Stout performance from Evil Twin!

Jet black, syrup like pour with no head. Aroma has some tobacco notes along with chocolate. Huge syrupy mouth. Taste is full of bitter chocolate with a strong tobacco finish. Super bitter. Like sucking on a blackened piece of barley. It’s extreme, but at the same time I keep coming back to it for more. Alcohol is very well hidden.

Aroma is roasted/dark malts, vinous and a hint of scotch. The flavor is dark malts, vinous, fruit, chocolate and a slightly sour/warming alcohol finish.

Inky black pour with a thin fading tan head. Rich aroma of black roasted malt, deep fudge, booze, caramel, and chocolate roast. MmmMmm. Rich boozy and roasty black malt flavor that slowly calms into chocolate, bittersweet cocoa, caramel, coffee, fudge, and finishes boozy and semisweet with just a little bit of acridity tasting of black malt tones.

Bottle. Wonderful roasted malt aroma with chocolate and molasses notes. Pours inky black with a thin brown head with decent retention and excellent lacing. Starts with rich roasted malt flavors with subtle molasses. Full bodied with a viscous mouthfeel. Finishes very smooth with sweet chocolate and more molasses. Excellent imperial stout.
