4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Where and how: bottle 355 ml , tasting
Aroma saying this nose was bold would be understatement. Thrown in your face blend of potent alcohol, hops and black malt. Secondary cocoa beans and vanilla? In the end some mercy is shown with softer finish.
Top: lighter tanned top, presentable lace.
Base: almost pure black.
Palate : full bodied but does not feel to be heavy.
Taste: front - coffee, dark barley, hint of burnt malts. Mid- chewy, soft. Top- dry alcohol heat. Ending – bitter chocolate
Other notes monster beer brewed to near perfection.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours viscous, pitch black and opaque with a one finger beige head that quickly settles into a thin, lasting ring. Spotty lace left behind.
Sweet boozy aroma with a decent amount of floral hops, burnt sugars and roasted dark malt. Subtle earthy pine needle followed by sweet, fudge-y dessert-like chocolate notes and deep roast. Chocolate, coffee bean, caramel, toffee and alcohol sweetness along with burnt toast, oatmeal and smoke.
Viscous and full bodied with a really nice balance of earthy hops, boozy sweetness, sweet chocolate and dark roasted malt. Earthy, resinous and piney hops provid a nice bitterness that compliments that roast and counters the dessert like sweetness. Grassy pine needle bitterness up front, but not too much, followed by boozy heat, chocolate, caramel and toffee. This is coutered by smoke and a robust roasted coffee bean presence along with some dark chocolate, oatmeal, burnt sugars and toast. Plenty of alcohol sweetness but the high ABV is excellently masked. Never would have guessed 12%. Really complex and definitely a sipper but it’s deceptively drinkable.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
After disappointing Evil Twin Even More Jesus experience (see my review), Aún Más a Jesús is a whole different beast of a beer. Head takes forever to dissipate. Much more refined like notes. Among smoke, coffee, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, espresso are the hops from start to finish which non-overpowering sweetness cannot disguise like in claimed U.S. brewery Even More Jesus equivalent. Nothing equivalent at all starting with quality control. This is a formidable Spanish Imperial Stout I would not even put in the category of Desert Beers. I reach for another sip well before I would just about any other beer. Yes, it’s oily on the palate but taste is still everywhere & lingers for up to 5 minutes. By the end of the bottle hops are prevalent forever. With all the various craft breweries doing cooperative blends with Evil Twin, which I had to do with Even More Jesus, the lingering hops here lend me to think it’s Even More Jesus with filtered out sludge blended with citrus/tropical sweet ultra-hops Molotov Cocktail. At any rate, Straight To Ale Laika is my non-candied Imperial Stout standard baseline for all other Imperial Stouts.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
330 ml bottle into snifter, 2015 vintage bottling. Pours dense pitch black color with a small dense dark brown head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, dark bread, molasses, licorice, raisin, prune, fig, leather, tobacco, wood smoke, light char, herbal, light pepper, and roast/smokey earthiness. Incredible aromas with fantastic complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, dark bread, molasses, licorice, raisin, prune, fig, leather, tobacco, wood smoke, light char, herbal, light pepper, and roast/smokey earthiness. Good amount of herbal/spicy/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, fudge, dark bread, molasses, licorice, dark fruit, wood smoke, light char, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and balance with intense robustness of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and extremely full bodied; with a very creamy, silky, slick, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is insane. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a world class imperial stout as expected. All around incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the huge ABV. This is nearly identical to Even More Jesus as expected; but it seems to be stronger on earthy hop flavors and bitterness; which also seem to make it drier and smoother overall. An insanely amazing offering all around.
