Translucent deep reddish amber. Hoppy aroma. Incredibly bitter awesome flavor. The finish is a bit harsh. For some reason the palate is roughened up on this one. But it has Damn good taste and a dry finish. Lingering bitter flavor.

(Draught) Pours a clear amber body with a small white head. Aroma of caramel, weed, pine, orange, and resin. Flavor of grass, caramel, pine, earth, and light orange with a dry, bitter finish.

Tastes imperial. I mean rather imperial. I mean impish. (thumbs through dictionary) I mean, it tastes bitter and my lack of ability to describe beers makes me rather bitter, but I rather fancy this beer and had numerous ppints this weekend and still want more and thus I end my rating and head back to the fluidity of imbibing.

On tap at the Draught House. The beer pours a reddish color with a white head. The aroma is some biscuit and toffee malts with a whole lot of pine from the hops. It smells like a super-hopped red ale, which is how the bartender described it. The flavor is very bitter, but very good. I get a lot of pine from the hops as well as some resin and some orange citrus. There is also a little bit of biscuit malt and some toffee, but the bitterness level is about medium. The beer is fairly dry and the bitterness is lingering. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Translucent copper color, medium body with moderately carbonated mouth feel. Good notes of amber/red ale with lingering hop + malt finish with slightly syrup-like ending reminds you it’s an imperial ale. Best beer (by far) out of Austin Beerworks yet.
