Lightly hazy dark red - brown beer. Tidy pale tan head. Palate is slightly soft. Very mellow dark malts, quite creamy. Mild and pleasant touch of roast. Whisper of ester in the finish. All right.

(Draught) Pours a dark brown (near black) body with a small tan head. Aroma of lactose, chocolate, and roasted malt. Flavor of roasted grain, lactose, nuts, and chocolate.

Fair shwartz. Big white head on black body. Aggressive carbonation. Significant acid. Drinkable beer, it grew on me.It was only an extra, thanks Steve in Austin for some fun. Some burning tummy. Good roast aroma. Rough patches.

Can at BTBF. Pours with a slightly hazy near black hued body with a tan head that lasts. Aromas are roasty, mildly citrusy, spicy, grainy, hop resin, roast and chocolate. Flavors show spicy and floral hops with a mild citrus character. Baked bread, low roast. Very very fresh hop profile. Lively carbonation, medium dry with a long roasty, coffee like finish.

draft. light chalkiness in the nose along with the obligatory black patent char with lighter milk chocolate notes. medium body, lightly pasty, creamy carbonation and creamy body suggesting oats (which I see now is chocolate wheat, ok). pleasant soft minerallic yeast character.

Can:   Dark brown, almost black, thin frothy off-white head, spotty lacing.   Soft roasted malt nose, slightly bready in a whole wheat way.   On the tongue its pretty pale in its roastiness, hardly could say its even toasty.   Now that I see it uses the Urquell Lager yeast, it tastes like Pilsner Urquell a bit.   As it warms I get a little bit of bakers like chocolate on the nose.   Seems very clean, backside has a very faint pasture/earthy like tinge.   Comes across as a very average Schwarzbier.   Thanks for the can Bill!

Draught at the Alamo Drafthouse - S. Lamar, Austin, Oct. 20. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a small lasting creamy tan head and lots of lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoke, toasted malt, caramel and notes of coffee & chocolate. Malty flavour is lightly toasted along with some light smoky notes and nuts. Medium bodied. A nice, easy to drink Schwarz.

(Draught) jet black pour with a creamy tan head and excellent lacing. Nose of cream, brown sugar, nuts, light aromas of dark fruit. Taste of chocolate wafers, cream, lightly bitter, and a bit of a watery body. Creamy carbonation on the palate.

tap @ whip-in, can @ g-man .. . pours a deep dark brown .. good healthy foam, as is lacing .. . browned malts, good roast, and light burnt tar .. . clean, very good stuff! .. . . serious grunt up front.
