Tap at the brewery. Pours clear light gold, fast dissipating head. Aroma is tart, wheat, grain, faint citrus. Taste is nice light pils base, with a bit of tartness, grass and grain. Light refreshing body. Good.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear gold with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is lemon, funk, and dough. Thin mouth, lemon, dough, very tart, clean, crushable, look forward to this release every year, such an amazing berliner.

GABF 2013. Pours a touch hazy light yellow appearance with a white head. A bit tangy, light barnyard, lemony aroma. Slightly watery but overall pretty tasty flavor with some lactic, vanilla, lemon, and a touch herbal notes. A touch watery but kind of chill.

I have yet to taste a Berliner weiss that is quite up to the first one I had (that was an actual one from Berlin), but dang if this does not come closest. Think it has been developing and actually improving, but alas believe last time I was at the brewery it had just run out. Good job, buckos!

This was my first experience with a Berliner Weisse and I am very early to the sour genre. That said, i really enjoyed exploring this beer with Tre Miner, the Certified Cicerone at Craft Pride in Austin. Watch Locapour to see my experience with this beer: http://locapour.tv/austin/austinbeerworkseinhorn the end of the episode you can see that I am starting to get it and looking forward to pairing it with food.

Can thanks to Bobby. Hazy golden straw pour with a big white head. Lemon, lemon drop candy, straw, and grass on the nose. A hint of tropical fruit and some popcorn. Flavors of lemon drop candies, sour lemon zest, grass, and tropical fruit. Popcorn, grass, and a hint of yogurt.

Go Austin Beer Works! The only local brewery here in Austin Texas that makes a semi-widely available berliner weisse! Itís draft only, and only available as a mid summer seasonal, but there are enough places to fill your growler of this magic work of art to keep me happy enough...for now. This is the most traditionally done to style Berliner ive had outside of a brewpub setting! Clean. Tart. Crisp. Light. Super duper session monster. Itís also done closer to the traditional ABV!...making it even more sessionable.
