3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The drab, generic brewery name and uninspiring can design initially kept me away from this brewer’s work until I saw they had made a Steam Ale - not a style taken on lightly. If this is a fair example of their craft, I’ll seek out the rest of the line. Translucent pale yellow with a short but stable head. Lovely burst of Hersbrucker in the pour - fresh, zesty and inviting. Lime, tangerine and yeast. Quite a hard, fizzy palate but not unflattering to the style. Sweet malts, lemon zest and moderate bitterness. Dry finish. This is not a style that seems to set many pulses racing but these blokes seem to know what they’re doing. The notes on the can differ significantly from those quoted above and the abv is a touch higher at 4.5% - not sure what’s going on there. (355ml can from D’vine Cellars, Wentworth Falls. Drunk 4/10/13)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma - resin, floral, grass, esters
Appearance - pale, golden, clear, sparkling, head - frothy
Taste - light sweetness, medium bitterness, crisp
Palate - medium body, fizzy, gentle finish
Overall - Good interpretation of a Californian Common with a healthy nod to Kolsch

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Had this one at Beer Cartel, not much of an aroma or a taste, pale yellow in colour. Quite malty, very subtle citrus hops. Drinkable, but not an amazing beer at all.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Poured a clear pale straw gold colour with a thin white bubbly head that diminished quickly and left a bit of foam around the rim. Laced poorly. Aroma very subtle of light bready malt plus lemon. Taste dominated by sour bitterness. Light body. Crisp finish. Not my style.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
From a 355ml can on 14/4/2013 (ABV listed as 4.5%, not 4.4%). Pours a clear very pale straw with smallish white head. Not much to not in the aroma, just a bit of bready malt and a touch of grain. In the mouth, there’s quite a lot of sweetness up front, along with a distinct citrus tang and a reasonable dash of bitterness to finish things off. Quite refreshing but a little subdued. Could certainly knock of few of these down on a hot day.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
at the brewery on tap
Straw gold color, bright white head. Very active carbonation. Looks refreshing on a hot day.
Nose is of bread, citrus and grass. Faint and light nose.
taste also bread, grass and lemon. Clean and crisp.
Light bodied, lots of carbonation. Bread and lemon body. Bland body and could not finish due to the amount of lemon grass in this.
