Bottle: Clear, amber to deep amber coloured, small off-white foamy layer; toasty-caramelly and also nutty nose, completed by dried fruits; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied, soft; sweet-bitter finish showing the same flavours like in the aroma. Pleasant stuff.....

Good brownish, fluffy head over deep dark-copper beer. Dry caramel nose, but a bit childrens’ sweets-like. Suggests alcohol. Very caramelly taste, but with a leafy, drier character, certainly in the finish. Very slick, obviously well-bodied and alcoholwarming. Good in its style - not that many amber Doppelbocks available.

Bottle 500ml. @ home.

Clear medium amber colour with a average to large, frothy and speaking, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, brown suger, light bread, light alcohol. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet, light light berry acidic and light to moderate malt bitter with a average duration, malty, caramel, thin ! Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20110630]

Kraftig maltsødme med karamell og alkoholpreg. Balansert fint med humle, og siden jeg er en slikkmunn, står det "nam-øl" i notatene mine...

Bottle. A clear, dark amber beer with a small, dense, off-white to beige head. The aroma is quite vegetal, with some alcohol notes and fruityness. The flavor is a tad better, still rather vegetal. Some caramel notes and a little bitterness. Warming and full-bodied, a bit heavy on the carbonation. The finish is warming and slightly bitter, and the unpleasant dms flavor is still present. A rather poor doppelbock. 110601

bottle from biershop-bayern.de. Clear, deep brown colour, large beige head. Malty nose. Full-bodied, smooth carbonation, flavours of roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, raisins. The alcohol is well hidden. Delicious Doppelbock!

Bottled. Deep ambery brown colour with a mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts, some mild raisins, mildly wooden notes as well as some slight alcohol. Flavour is caramel and bready malts along with raisins, mild stinging alcohol as well as some slight earthy notes. Quite pleasantly balanced Doppelbock.

(bottle, 7.7% abv) Clear, brown colour with a ruby shine and a big but collapsing beige frothy head. Sweet and moderately toasty malty aroma with notes of leather and almost a peaty/smokey touch. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a calm carbonation. Hearty and moderately toasty malt-character with notes of molasses and a subtle fruitiness; sweet and slightly toasty malty finish with light notes of herbal hops and alcohol shining through. Not my first choice on a day with more than 30° Celsius; also very close if not identical to the Schwarzer Baron by Autenrieder. 05.VII.10
