COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle: Reddish-amber coloured small off-white foamy layer; sweet dried fruits, dark malt and caramel plus a tinge of roasted malt; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; dryish toasty-bitter flavours in the dark-malty and fruity finish. Unspectacular, but pleasant and easy-drinking Doppelbock.........

Dark amber to clear chestnut beer, clear, under a small, fast dwindling greyish tan head; Little nose, actually, bit of dark malts. Sweet, caramel, toffee, autumn leaves, raisins. Finish is actually like a raisinsyrup for waffles, diluted. Less syrupy in texture than in taste, aftertaste has actually some hopbitterness, feels better carbonated than it looks. Too sweet by half, unless in the aftertaste. Not exactly the best of Doppelbocks.

Bottle 330ml. @ home.

Clear medium to dark red brown colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, sugar, light chocolate. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, brown sugar sweet, raisin - dark dried berry sweet, malty. Body is medium, texture is oily to creamy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20110418]

bottle from biershop-braugasthoefe.de. Deep amber-brown colour, large and creamy beige head. Malty nose. Full-bodied, smooth palate, flavours of malt, biscuits, caramel, dried fruit such as dates, raisins, prunes. Well-balanced, a very good beer.

(bottle, 33cl, 7.7% abv) Clear, dark amber to brown colour with a big and beige foamy head. Toasty malty and leafy, leathery aroma with notes of dark bread/Pumpernickel as well as a tinge of alcohol. Sweet flavour with a whiff of bitterness, full bodied with an oily mouthfeel. Robust toasty malty base with notes of dark bread, molasses and subtle notes of dried fruits; sweet and molassy malty finish with a well-covered alcohol. Clean and nice, just a tad too sweet for my liking. 05.VII.10
