Beer with a lively and strong character, with some coriander notes and a well-expressed bitterness.

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus and Ansjelaah. A bit hazy golden color, small white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, lightly a sour hint, weird fruityness, slightly herbs or spices, green apple, unripe cherries. Average to medium body and carbonation. Not very good.

Draft at the 2014 Brugge Beer Festival. The name gives the colour away, it’s blonde. It looked a bit thin actually, but it made up for it’s weak colouring by having a great aroma and taste. The nose was peppery with coriander type aromas along with a general herbal/spice smell. I liked the semi-sweet front to the flavour, an exotic fruit feel really: then it calms down a little and bittering hops arrive to balance the sweetness. Different and interesting. Others will find differing flavours I’m sure, it is worth finding.

*Bottle bought @ BAB Beerfestival, Bruges. Almost transparent golden colour, slim foamy head. Nose gets citrus, anise and liquorice, interesting. Taste in addition to the aroma gets a little sweet fruitiness, some malts, no real bitterness. Mouthfeel is a bit oily, medium-high carbonated. Quite decently balanced.

33cl bottle at home. APPEARANCE: clear blond beer, stable white head. NOSE: peppery, spicy, some hops, exotic fruits, some passion fruit, some liquorice even. Never had this kind of nose before! TASTE: little anise, exotic fruits, sweet, bitter and syrupy aftertaste. Weird taste, I think you probably like it or dislike it, I dislike it more... Technically OKé IMHO, but not my taste!

Spicy and quite herbal aroma. Has some initial sweet, fruity tones of banana and a little spice. Soft feel.

Draught@Festival brassicole de Tournai 2013. - First draught at the festival and an instant underwhelming introduction to a very traditional Belgian blonde ale with perfect, boring balance. Straw blonde, good generous white head, qualit, slightly slick malt base and moderate floral hoppyness. Leaner than Chouffe, but in the same uneventful category. Needs more personality.
