(Rating #4530)
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Glouglouburp (5613) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - OCT 11, 2012
In short: A tart blond ale of some kind. Unpolished offering. Meh
How: Tap at brewpub, from the very first batch, consumed on the very first day Fous Brassant started serving their own beers
The look: Clear blonde body topped by a small white head
In long: The very timid nose is a bit citric, . Taste is basic crisp crackery cereals, lemon muffin, Corn Flakes™, banana peels, citric notes, almost no bitterness, low sweetness sensation, a finish that is mouth-drying with its dry tartness. The beer was over-carbonated and it added a bit too much acidity. Felt unpolished, a bit amateurish, but nonetheless refreshing and easy to drink. I wasn’t impressed by this new brewpub but I will go back at least once a year because it is on my way to visit my parents, and I need to visit my parents once in a to stay in touch because my mother still tries to dial my email number.

Drank on tap (12 oz) at the brewpub on July 8, 2012. Blonde pale, small head. Aroma of malted barley slightly raw, some notes of corn. Barley dry taste, hints of green herbs, bitter herbs. A blonde ale for anyone, but unusual!
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 3, 2012
My Bottom Line :
Citrus fruit and Frontenac malt greenness dominate this prickly Blond Ale and its semi-awkward astringency (courtesy of the Frontenac grain).
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A ring of foam circles the misty yellow.
-Highly carbonated and rather lean, this was still refreshing on a hot afternoon.
-Hops are a near no-show, but the Frontenac malt greenness is so dominant in its greenness that it makes you believe the finish is still quite hoppy. But not in a refined way.
-The Frontenac malt character for me is just too dominant and brash for what is meant to be a soft and smooth brew.
On tap at the brewpub.
