3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Avalon Brewpub. A good effort at a hefeweizen and better than average for a Mark James Group beer. Also above average for a brewpub British Columbian wheat beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is the standout beer from Avalon for sure. Deep, cloudy, yellow colour. Banana aroma and mellow banana flavour to match. Lightly sprtizy, yet fuller-bodied for a hefe.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cloudy beige; crisp, wheaty, citric aroma (though they did serve it with lemon before I could stop them). Toned down banana compared to other Mark James hefes. Drier all round as well, with a decent bit of hop in the finish, and lacking the malty sweetness that Yaletown’s hefe in particular has. Not a bad wheat, but a little different from what I expected at a Mark James brewpub.
