I thought it was called Scotch Ale but I could be talking about a different beer. I doubt it, though, because Avalon wasn’t open long enough to turn out that much variety in strong, malty UK-style beers. This one was quite rich, with a strong dark color and a relatively deep roasted malt flavor. Decent for its type.

Sweet, cloying, fruity, sugary. Medium bodied. More hops please.

Copper-brown; warming earthy malt aroma - fresh grains! The palate disappoints, however. It is so utterly nondescript - chewy, earthy malts that typify the style, but no nuance. Few hops. Some caramel/toffee development but you anticipate that before you drink it so really the beer offers nothing to surprise or engage the experienced beer lover. Vaguely sticky finish.
