Pour on tap at the brewery, thick dark brown/black pour with creamy tan head, aroma brings lactose, milk chocolate, roast, slight caramel and toffee, slight coffee notes but pretty milk and chocolate forward. Taste is very roasty and chocolatey, hints of lactose and coffee in there, hints of caramel, finishing sweet. Very drinkable.

Taster at avery tap room. Pours very dark. Drinks very smooth because alcohol is not noticeable. Slightly chocolate flavors are present.

Very dark appearance, but a drinkable smooth stout. The taste is very milky, so the alcohol is not very noticeable. Leaves a thick rich flavor in your mouth. $1.50 5oz taster. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

I would have called it a sweet stout. Lots of chocolate and some coffee. I do pick up lactose, and it works well in this beer. Smooth palate.

Dark brown/black pout with a creamy head. Some roast, chocolate and lactose. Taste follows a similar pattern. Good, and great for the low ABV, but far from my favorite milk stout.

PapaSkeetSkeet (806) - Corvallis, Oregon, USA - AUG 13, 2013
Thin light brown head of moderate coarseness, dark brown fluid, light brown at edges. More porter-like in color than stout-like. Aroma is chewy molasses, dates, light bbq, chocolate, moss, leaf, lake. Body is light, watery. Carbonation is light and smooth, a bit creamy. Flavor is light coco and bark, chalk, grass. Hint of herb and soap. Cool beer, not an outright delicious flavor though.

On tap at the brewery, this pours black with a wispy eggshell head and lace. The nose has roasts and lactose. Roasted malt and grains with hints of milk sugars. Smooth and creamy mouth, it's a nice low-ABV offering. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Avery, 060913. Dark brown with a dark tan head. Aroma is roastem malt with coffee, chocolate and a light sweetness. Taste has bitter chocolate and a light sweetness, dry roasted finish. Light/medium body.

Tap at Avery. Black with a persistent and thin beige head. Aroma has a surprising amount of hops, farm fresh wet hops it smells like, with a fair dose of dark roasty maltiness. Flavor is light as expected bit with a creamy dark roasty black maltiness, with ample fresh-leafy-hoppiness to finish it out. Very balanced, but a little too fresh hopped for the style.
