Full malty aroma loaded with sweetness and fruit (oranges). Very inviting. The flavor is just what the aroma suggests. Full malt with a light caramel sweetness. Plenty of hops run through this one and I noted Pine, orange, and earthy notes all throughout. Well integrated flavors and very enjoyable. Medium-full bodied. I’ll take more of this any time. lithy (1687), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 17, 2008 Cloudy brownish orange with a healthy frothy finger of white head. Very grapefruity aroma. Some malty caramels. Taste is powerful grapefruit and citrus hops. Great floral bittering finish. Kinz (2205), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 2, 2008 Medium amber, nice head lasts very well and leaves a ton of lace. Aroma is a huge shot of hops, pineapple, citrus, grapefruit, a bit of pine and floral notes as well, gummy malts. Flavor matches, with a resin quality coming out more as it warms. Straightforward hop blast with a shot of sweet, caramel accented malts. Pehraps not mind blowing, but highly enjoyable. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 1, 2008 Amber color with a heavy, syrupy hop aroma backed by lots of sugar. Flavor is thick, hoppy, and sugary, but not much else here. Decent, but not one of their better brews. ChainGangGuy (2562), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 1, 2008 Appearance: Pours a lightly hazy, amber-hued body with a wispy, white head.
Smell: Aroma of juice-dripping tropical fruits ahead of the pale maltiness, hint of grass, and minor note of Oval Office dankness.
Taste: Pale and caramel malts with a sugary, candyish sweetness. A bit grassy. Fruity mix of tangerines, melons, and pineapples, then WHAM -- bitterness, a moderate hop bitterness, maybe even moreso. Light undercurrent of astringency. Finishes quite bitter, with a lingering taste of tropical fruits.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Oily, slightly sticky mouthfeel.
Drinkability: I vote ’no’ on this hopferendum. Geez, could you imagine struggling through 8 years of this one? tdaglow (41), Minnesota, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 31, 2008 Hoppy but slightly sweat aroma. Appearance is a foggy golden. Flavor is quite hoppy but balanced with some carmel sweetness. Palate is full with a nicely citrus finish. FunkyBrewster (466), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 30, 2008 Thanks 17thfloor! Pours a dark orange amber color with a thick foamy off-white head. Aroma is sweet and hoppy with a little of roasted caramel malts but some definite citrus hop bitterness balancing it out. Flavor starts very sweet with caramel and a bit syrupy sugar and butter but the hops hit hard from that point on along with a nice bit of citrus zest to bring this one to a pleaantly bitter and hoppy finish. Medium-full body and average carbonation. Very well done IPA. Nicely balanced with multiple complexities that is very drinkable. after4ever (2736), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 30, 2008 22, capped and foiled in purdy gold. Pours cloudy dark burnished copper with a thick and moussy tan head that falls quickly away, but leaves nice wooly/webby lacing and sudsy film. Nice forward apricot and peach nose, nothing earth-shattering. Medium body, a little prickly on the carb. Biscuit, apricot, peach, and resin on the mid-palate. Tastes DIPA-ish all the way for my money. Nice enough. Probably wouldn’t drive anywhere to get this beer.
