Commercial Description:
We the Brewers of Avery Brewing Company, in order to form a more perfect ale, require a new leadership that can liberate us from our quagmires in foreign lands; embrace environmentally sound energy alternatives to imported oil; heal our ailing health care system; free us from tyrannical debt and resurrect the collapsing dollar. We hereby pledge to provide him or her with an ample amount of our Presidential Pale Ale to support in the struggle for the aforementioned goals! Hail to the New Chief!

Not an "Imperial" pale ale, this is a democracy. It's Presidential! Take the all-American pale ale, a bipartisan blend of malt and hops, increase to both Avery Brewing standards, and then, of course, dry hop the result with that most quintessential of American hops, Cascades, and you get this... Ale to the Chief. A brew worthy of the Oval Office! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, hops and yeast.

Pour from the 32oz. bottle into a glass: Strong and complex mouthfeel of hoppy bitterness, brown sugar, bubblegum, alcohol... reminds me of Lagunita’a Hairy Eyeball Ale. It’s almost like a dipa, but there’s an absence of overloaded hops and I miss it. At first taste this ale was balanced and awesome... a few sips later and the excitement wears off. Couldn’t finish the bottle so I used what was left to steam Littlenecks in. That was yummmy and got bonus points. Drinkability: Stick to a half pint. Rebuy: Probably not. #117 on 13092009, DG.

@ LCRBM 2009. A clear copper colored beer, with a thick beige head. The aroma of hopbitters and fruits like citrus. Notes of brad. The taste is Gentle bitter with sweet fruits. syrupy with notes of alcohol. The aftertaste is first sweet, it becomes bitter and gets more bitter.

Dark copper colored beer. Lots of citrus in the aroma coming from Cascade hopps? Very bitter beer. Medium bodied.

Small, off-white head over well-carbonated dark-orange beer. C-hops and cumin aroma, as well as dried gingerbread. Sweet, spicy with - again - cumin (I’ll start believing it’s added). Cookies, and sweetened, sugared grapefruit peel. Very well-bodied, slick, oily, alcoholburn. Nice, if more than a tad sweet-syrupy. Making it typically Avery.

22 oz bottle. Excellent paean to the all-American Pale Ale. Sierra Nevada would be proud--or jealous. Top of the line pale ale. Addendum: my enthusiasm for this beer went downhill as it warmed, and so did my rating. Still a great beer, however.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber gold with a light brown head. Aroma is quite piney from hops with a touch of honey at the beginning. Flavor is quite hoppy with a flavor of pines and nicely balanced.

Obama should have been drinking this at that stupid event, not Bud Light! Bomber into a snifter. First of all - my bottle was a gusher, so watch out for that. Pours dark orange with a nice white head that sticks around. The aroma is hoppier than the Velveteen Rabbit, but the flavor, like they say, is not so much hoppy as a well balanced American pale. It’s big sweet malt with a touch of green leaf, a dash of smoke, and a sprinkling of dust, but none of it in a bad way, finished with a slight hop sourness and bitterness. A mouthfeel as big as Angelina’s lips but balanced with a fair amount of carbonation. A solid brew.
