Commercial Description:
We the Brewers of Avery Brewing Company, in order to form a more perfect ale, require a new leadership that can liberate us from our quagmires in foreign lands; embrace environmentally sound energy alternatives to imported oil; heal our ailing health care system; free us from tyrannical debt and resurrect the collapsing dollar. We hereby pledge to provide him or her with an ample amount of our Presidential Pale Ale to support in the struggle for the aforementioned goals! Hail to the New Chief!

Not an "Imperial" pale ale, this is a democracy. It's Presidential! Take the all-American pale ale, a bipartisan blend of malt and hops, increase to both Avery Brewing standards, and then, of course, dry hop the result with that most quintessential of American hops, Cascades, and you get this... Ale to the Chief. A brew worthy of the Oval Office! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, hops and yeast.

Pours a slightly hazy copper with a three finger, foamy eggshell head that dissipates to substantial lacing. Quite beautiful. The nose is a bit IIPA ish, with sweet floral and pineapple hop along with a decent dose of caramel malt. The flavor goes more to the dry hoppy side, along with a bit of heat. There’s definite citrus in there as well, as well as an herbal influence. Well rounded mouthfeel.

22 oz. bottle from Papago - Pours a clear golden color with a large off white head. Light layered lacing. Aroma is floral hops and fruity esters. Flavor is hops and sweet malt. Medium body. A very good beer.

Pours a pale golden orange with a two finger frothy white head. The nose is sweet, hoppy, citrusy, then I pick up the off flavor/smell. Taste it too. Its like mothballs, phenolic astringent mothballs. This is what ruined Green Flash BW for me. The flavor is sweet, hoppy, and then I can’t get over that flavor. Not going to be able to finish this one.

Poured from a 22oz foil topped bomber and served in a shaker. This beer poured a clear amber with a two-finger thick head of creamy beige foam that settled into a solid, lasting cap. A ton of bubbly lacing was left behind. The aroma of the beer included sugary caramel, light orange, and mango. Very sweet. The flavor consisted of sturdy caramel, toast, bitter grapefruit rind, and some light pine. The hops seem to be fading. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and had light carbonation. Decent, but it tasted like most other beers catagorized as ASA or Lagunitas.

22oz bomber shared with ealdent. Pours a caramel brown with orange highlights - mostly clear with subtle cloudiness. The foam poured medium in size and light tan in color. The aroma was up-front caramel and toffee mixed with some beautiful, fruity hops - citrus and herbs. The flavor followed the nose - an excellent blend of caramel and toffee with smooth bittering and nice citrusy/fruity hop flavor. The beer is definitely malt forward, but it is also hoppy enough to be characteristically American (Double IPA it is certainly not - the category of American Strong Ale is the perfect fit). The finish is medium-full in sweetness - not very dry - but with a nice bitterness that is balancing and clean. The mouthfeel is thick and full in body with a wonderful carbonation that brings levity - but smoothly w/out spritzy or tingly sensations. Overall, I found this to be a very enjoyable offering from Avery. Though I think the slogan "Ale to the chief!" is that last thing we need to be doing to fix our country’s problems :)

22oz bottle from Sams.....poured a golden caramel beown with a thick/full off-white head.... aroma of biscuity caramel malt with the faintest lingering aspect of hops. where did the hops go?.... malts run rampant in the flavor with only a touch of some bittering hops that come into play towards the finish. didn’t expect this one to be overrun by the malt profile so i was generally unimpressed.

In honor of the first debate (which I did not watch, actually) We decided to crack this one - Caramelly, toasty aroma - Thew Bride described it as "Autumny" very sweet - but odd - at first. Vegetal, herbal, or maybe even ginger? and fruity - pear, we thought - and finishes witha sturdy hop bite.
