I bought this on the spur of the moment, left it in my fridge for a month, and then dragged it out for a neighbor when we were doing some BBQ together. I *thought* it was made by Anheuser Busch, in one of their attempts to get the crossover market. I saw the big A on the label. We marveled at how good it was to have come from AB, the floral hops, the rich palate; we thought it was a very solid American ale. Oh, it’s Avery, you see? Ah, I get it. That explains it. AB still brews junk beer, and hell has decidedly NOT frozen over. Nephilium (551), Ohio, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 26, 2008 This starts with a nice blast of pine hops, with a nice caramel undertone. Pours a perfectly clear amber with a nice fluffy white head. For the taste, it starts with a bit of candy sweetness, which is then taken over by the pine bitterness of the hops. There’s a touch of alcohol notes noticeable if you go looking for them, but it’s nicely hidden. Quite a tasty beer, I’m going to need to get my hands on some more of this. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 26, 2008 Pours and amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of caramel malts, citrus and pine hops and maybe just a hint of alcohol. Strong flavor of resiny hops. Slight sweetness up front from the caramel hops but a huge finish of citrus hops and just a little alcohol. One of the better Avery beers. nearbeer (1834), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 25, 2008 Updated: Sep 26, 2008650 ml. Clear, orange-amber with a small ring of foam that leaves bits of soapy lace. Big aroma of grapefruit and tangerine peel with some honey. Initial flavor is all tangerine, honey and bitterish grapefruit; turns to some resin, oak and caramel towards the end. Light-medium body is nearly smooth and hoppy-dry on the finish. I like the commercial preamble and premise of this beer, but it’s too much of a one-note citrus slam for me. dkachur (2361), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Orange-brown pour with a 2-finger head, great retention and even greater lacing. Big floral hop aroma with some citrus and a caramel background. Taste starts off with a resiny hop note but fades quickly into a brown sugary maltiness. Full bodied. tennisjoel (941), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 23, 2008 Bomber rating. Copper orange pour with larger than average creamy head. Candied and floral hop aroma. Very easy drinking brew for the ABV and nice on the palate. The bitterness and sweetness play off each other well. Extremely well made beer and on the good side for Avery. Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA
