COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We the Brewers of Avery Brewing Company, in order to form a more perfect ale, require a new leadership that can liberate us from our quagmires in foreign lands; embrace environmentally sound energy alternatives to imported oil; heal our ailing health care system; free us from tyrannical debt and resurrect the collapsing dollar. We hereby pledge to provide him or her with an ample amount of our Presidential Pale Ale to support in the struggle for the aforementioned goals! Hail to the New Chief!

Not an "Imperial" pale ale, this is a democracy. It’s Presidential! Take the all-American pale ale, a bipartisan blend of malt and hops, increase to both Avery Brewing standards, and then, of course, dry hop the result with that most quintessential of American hops, Cascades, and you get this... Ale to the Chief. A brew worthy of the Oval Office! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, hops and yeast.

Amber color with a white head. Aroma is hops and some yeast. Flavor is more hops with a strong sweet alcohol aftertaste. Not bad, but I felt the alcohol in the finish is a little too overpowering.

"pours a pretty clear amber...fluffy white head, lots of lace. nice looking beer. smell is quite hoppy as expected. feel is very full for any pale, medium overall. very smooth. carbonation is spot on. hops are prevelant in the flavor (juicy and piney), but there is a sweet fruity malt backbone as well. doesn’t work quite as well as the better 2IPAs with the 8.75% abv (maybe better at 7-8%) but it’s a very good beer with a nice finish, too. I’ll try not to dock it points for being an "Obama beer" :o"

Bottled (backlog). Amber colour, small creamy off-white head that leaves some lace. Aroma is citrus, mild tropical fruits as well as some grass and sweet maltiness. Flavour is floral, fruity, caramelly and a bit toffeeish with some earthy notes.

Pours a nice clear amber color with white head. Floral notes are very dominant on the nose, with some citrus, and light fruit; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a little pine and some nice hop resin.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of floral and lightly citrusy hops, a decent amount of caramel, pale, and cereal malts, some dough, and light alcohol. Flavor about the same with a weird malty finish. Average texture. A decent beer, but my bottle might have been a little old.

2009 bottle. Held up well. Malts were toasty, dark fruits and a hint of berry. The hops were gone. Solid strong ale but would have liked to had fresh.

Backlog rating 3-19-2009 (Bottle) The appearance is a medium sized off-white frothy, fizzy head, hazy body with an orange hue combined with a golden tint, visible carbonation, and a good amount of lacing. The aromas I detected are caramel, malt, citrus and pine hops. This beer taste like the aromas, but without the pine hops. The palate is slightly tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. Overall, this is a very well brewed beer, quaffable, worth trying, and definitely a beer that I would drink again.

Bottle from Fermentation. Clear amber pour with a frothy white head with good lacing. Initial sweet caramel, toasted bread with piney and earthy hops. Chewy caramel maltiness in the flavor with toast, earthy and pine hops with notes of booze in the back end. Way too sweet for me, possibly an old bottle.

On Draft at Milanos. Have heard good things about this brew. Definitely leans towards that grassy, pine, resinous hop profile. Not my favorite hop characteristics. Might try again but did not live up to what I had heard.
