COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We the Brewers of Avery Brewing Company, in order to form a more perfect ale, require a new leadership that can liberate us from our quagmires in foreign lands; embrace environmentally sound energy alternatives to imported oil; heal our ailing health care system; free us from tyrannical debt and resurrect the collapsing dollar. We hereby pledge to provide him or her with an ample amount of our Presidential Pale Ale to support in the struggle for the aforementioned goals! Hail to the New Chief!

Not an "Imperial" pale ale, this is a democracy. Itís Presidential! Take the all-American pale ale, a bipartisan blend of malt and hops, increase to both Avery Brewing standards, and then, of course, dry hop the result with that most quintessential of American hops, Cascades, and you get this... Ale to the Chief. A brew worthy of the Oval Office! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, hops and yeast.

Glad to see this one. Deep amber pour with a frothy off white head. Aroma was piney hop oils, dark fruit, caramel, resin. Flavors were slightly sweet but well balanced. Lots of resiny hops, bits of caramel, pine, touch of toast. Mouthfeel was slick and oily, medium plus. Nice, lingering bitter finish to keep everything else in line. Tasty stuff.

Brand new version of the beer 2016 re release 8.1% abv .... Pale to almost clear copper pour with a thin white head and light lacing.... Aroma of piney hops, biscuity malts, buttery and dank with some citrusy hops .... Taste is of light piney and dank hops, biscuity malts, caramel malt, some citrusy and floral notes .... Has a lightly dry hopped finish and a bit of booze lingers .... Not very impressive Ale to the chief

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2016 Draft at Bru Craft. Slightly hazy copper pour with soft beige foam. Nice lace. An odd mix. Hoppy dark red amber fruit. Plums and prunes. Mandarins. Key limes. Pinecones. Red liquorice. Burnt blood oranges. Charred plum pudding. Fish scales. Black currants. Hot spicy finish ultimately hides the high ABV.

Bomber. Clear amber with a foamy, beige head that lasts and laces. Aromas of pine, caramel, grapefruit, light orange and herbal notes. Flavor is the same, sweet caramel, bitter pine, some grapefruit and orange with some heat and herbal notes on the end. Medium plus bodied, smooth with a dry, slightly bitter and hot finish.

22 oz bottle poured, wearing the signature avery foil. 2009 bottle with pale ale on the bottle, so i had my doubts. Impressed for sure. Hop presence up front, but less than fresh. Orange fruit finish. Held up pretty will Iíd say.

Bottle pour at Brouwerís, this beer has been on my eye for a bit now, listed as the 2009, bold bit of flavor, not really sure of what flavors though. But it is awesome. Golden copper pour semisweet flavor not sure how this aged taste decent but makes me wonder about the original.

Bottle, back in the day (donít remember exact vintage, but it was fresh).
Filtered amber-auburn body has a beige head atop, fairly large and slowly receding to cover.
Pine, dry citrus, iced tea and unfermented sugars in the nose all show your typical aggressive, lacking-of-elegance Avery strong ale from back in the day. Clean, though resinous and full of sourish, strongly toasted grain notes. Very fruity, as well.
Hard textured crystal malts, bitter, dry grapefruit and pine with sweetness balancing, I suppose, though itís a mix of unfermented sugar and sweet-sour toasted malt notes that donít exactly soften the blow of the punchy, aggressive hops. More iced tea on the end, clean yeast and fruitiness with a ton of lingering orange rind and some definite booze. Donít actually know if Avery has cleaned up their act in the past 5-7 years, as a steady stream of beers like this turned me very off to this brewery.

Bottle from SJ trade. Nice notes of caramel, orange peel, hop, rye and bread. Not a bad brew
