One of the things I really like about Avery is their characteristic hop profile found in their pale ales. This one does not disappoint. It has a lovely hop taste that is balanced with slight undertones of sweet malt. However, the hop taste is not out of control which makes it that much more drinkable. Right amount of carbonation and pours a darker copper color. Bomber enjoyed with two others on a nice summer night.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 2, 2010 Bottle. Poured a clear medium orange color with a sticky off white head. Smelled of pine, citrus liqueur, and caramel. There was also a whiff of apricot. Medium to full bodied and slightly sweet. The sugars were attenuated somewhat by some up-front sharp carbonation and mild to moderate bitterness. There was plenty of malty caramel flavor accompanied by pine and warming alcohol. rmussman (936), California, USA

Pours light brown with lots of carbonation. Drinks really smooth. Has a lot of good hoppy and malty goodness. Nice brew. dm9831 (1201), Monee, Illinois, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 4, 2010 22oz bottle. Pours a hazed, orange-copper colored body with an inch thick, tight, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a good amount of lacing. Aroma is hoppy with some fresh pines and grapefruits. A little bit of sweet hops behind the pines as well as a sweet caramel, light crystal maltiness. Flavor is similar. Piney, resiny, and somewhat flowery with sweeter citrus, grapefruits, melons, and some mango. A hint of toast accompanies a lighter caramel, crystal sweetness. Finishes fresh and clean with a moderate resiny bitterness that leaves a medium length aftertaste. Medium body, somewhat oily, and smooth with a moderate carbonation. Overall, a fresh, hoppy, fairly sweet beer. Lots of resiny pines and a thinner caramel sweetness that showcases the hops. Solid beer. dogfish120love (326), west hartford, Connecticut, USA

The scent is a rather sweet smelling, hoppy aroma of pine, spruce and grapefruit. The floavor is sweet and very similar to a standard IPA. The 8 plus booziness doesn’t show. 5000 (2909), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 27, 2009 Bottle:   Orange hued golden, large rocky white head, nice lacing, lively carbonation.   Combination citrus zest and pine on the nose.   Not so malty sweet, a little on the bitter side as far as I can tell.   Bitter citrus rind, pine, and hops on the tongue.   Clean, this one starts out on the bitter side but picks up a small bit of sweet malts to balance it out.   Had this been sweeter, maltier, and a bit bigger in ABV this would make my perfect IIPA.   A little resiny.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Has a biscuity flair on the finish, with a touch of graininess.   Starts out better, finishes a little akward.   Good, but based on the ratings I was expecting a bit more.   Replace biscuit like malts with some floral sweetness and then this thing would be the bomb.   A little astringent and earthy after the finish.   Not quite my style of IPA.   Tiz okay.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 8, 2009 Pours a cloudy dark amber color with a thin off-white foam head that quickly settles into a thin lasting ring that streaks the glass with spots of soapy lacing.
Crisp floral hop aroma with subtle hints of citrus and earthy pine as well as a strong caramel malt presence.
Nicely balanced and very quaffable considering he high ABV. The malt backbone is a bit too strong for my liking but it provides nice balance to the dry earthy hops. Earthy pine and sweet citrus notes. Slightly dry finish.
