COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We the Brewers of Avery Brewing Company, in order to form a more perfect ale, require a new leadership that can liberate us from our quagmires in foreign lands; embrace environmentally sound energy alternatives to imported oil; heal our ailing health care system; free us from tyrannical debt and resurrect the collapsing dollar. We hereby pledge to provide him or her with an ample amount of our Presidential Pale Ale to support in the struggle for the aforementioned goals! Hail to the New Chief!

Not an "Imperial" pale ale, this is a democracy. It’s Presidential! Take the all-American pale ale, a bipartisan blend of malt and hops, increase to both Avery Brewing standards, and then, of course, dry hop the result with that most quintessential of American hops, Cascades, and you get this... Ale to the Chief. A brew worthy of the Oval Office! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, hops and yeast.

True to its description, this beer has an excellent selection and balance of malt and hops. Wanted to crack this one on innaguration day but 5 months later and it was worth the wait.

Pours a nice clear amber color with white head. Floral notes are very dominant on the nose, with some citrus, and light fruit; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a little pine and some nice hop resin.

Served in a 4oz taster at Churchkey in Washington DC. Very good double IPA, much hoppier than the standard.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of floral and lightly citrusy hops, a decent amount of caramel, pale, and cereal malts, some dough, and light alcohol. Flavor about the same with a weird malty finish. Average texture. A decent beer, but my bottle might have been a little old.

2009 bottle. Held up well. Malts were toasty, dark fruits and a hint of berry. The hops were gone. Solid strong ale but would have liked to had fresh.

Backlog rating 3-19-2009 (Bottle) The appearance is a medium sized off-white frothy, fizzy head, hazy body with an orange hue combined with a golden tint, visible carbonation, and a good amount of lacing. The aromas I detected are caramel, malt, citrus and pine hops. This beer taste like the aromas, but without the pine hops. The palate is slightly tingly and this is a medium bodied beer. Overall, this is a very well brewed beer, quaffable, worth trying, and definitely a beer that I would drink again.

Bottle from Fermentation. Clear amber pour with a frothy white head with good lacing. Initial sweet caramel, toasted bread with piney and earthy hops. Chewy caramel maltiness in the flavor with toast, earthy and pine hops with notes of booze in the back end. Way too sweet for me, possibly an old bottle.

On Draft at Milanos. Have heard good things about this brew. Definitely leans towards that grassy, pine, resinous hop profile. Not my favorite hop characteristics. Might try again but did not live up to what I had heard.

Type: Draft Glass: Half pint glass From: URGE American Gastropub in Rancho Bernardo (San Diego, Calif.) Price: $4.00 Misc.: N/A Poured a red caramel color with a finger (when I got it) of off-white head that lasted for awhile. Good looking circular lacing on the sides. Nice layer of on the top as it went down. Smelled soap, butter and bitter piny hops. Tasted bitter piny hops, grapefruit, weak floral hops and soap with a huge alcohol bite. Medium body. Thin-to-oily texture. Lively (above average) carbonation. Bitter finish. Just wasn’t a fan of his beer. Lots of alcohol in the taste, but the flavor just didn’t match up.

Sample on tap at The Lackman. Pours a clear copper orange color. Some bubbles on the side of the glass, initially. Minimal white head, that leaves decent lace. Not much nose. Caramel malts, rye grains, toasty earthy hops. Herbal flavor. Bigger body, light carbonation. More dry finish. Sweeter taste, some bitterness in the finish. Real solid, interesting American Strong, with a good grainy hoppiness to balance out the malts.
