COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We’re hopheads. We LOVE hops. Just can’t seem to get enough of them. To satisfy our lupulin desires and to commemorate our anniversary, we’ve created ELEVEN. Describing this double IPA as "aggressively hopped" is an understatement. Words cannot describe what your olfactory senses are about to enjoy. Yes, it’s hoppy. Shockingly hoppy. 90 IBUs.

Good reed body for an IPA, with a decent sized head as well. The aroma is much to my liking. Hoppy. Floral. Sweet, and just a bit bitter. The hop action in this mostly at the end of the mouthfeel. It starts rather sweet and subdued, a rather basic sweet mouthfeel. Then when it hits the back of the throat, then you get the kick and your jaw muscles begin to tingle a bit.

I was hyped up for my first double IPA, but it was a let down. I don’t know how old this bottle was, but I was expecting a brutal hop kick. My favorite IPA, Bell’s 2 Hearted has more, I swear. The alcohol was well-hidden. Tingly mouthfeel. Piney and floral hops. Not bad, just not what I was expecting.

I don’t ever expect much from "annivesary" duople IPAs, but this one was really quite nice. Very well balanced and not overbearing with the hops. Tasty indeed.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2004 bottle. pours a light amber with a creamy dark off white head.with a strong citrus hop aroma. taste is more subdued than i expected. has a strong malt flavor that keeps the hoppiness in check. but the flavor is very enjoyable and i love the finish, smooth and rich pear flavor.

08.14.04 bottle @ HW 5th anniv. Totally clear amber color with average head. Aroma of evergreen, citrus (grapefruit), not much else as the malts are hidden behind the hop front. Flavor is a barrage of hops, bitter, burning, spicey. No balance, it is what they say it is, I’ll give it that. Maybe it could stand some more time in the bottle to chill out, but that’s not the intent of this one.

This was a great IIPA. Pours a hazy amber with a creamy head that lingers. Nose is resiny, like a forest of hops. Flavors are very bready and very hoppy. Supremely citrusy. G-rat

Tasted in Colorado. Purchased at a beer store in Dillon. 22oz bottle. Tasted in a Ramada bathroom glass in Denver. Pours a rich amber colour, clear with an absolutely amazing white fluffy yet dense head that remains in the glass until completion. Aroma is of intense hop floralness. Due to the intense over-hopping, the aroma has fruit like, estery scent of apricots, with a very intense bitterness. Taste is sooooo bitter. Its like squeezing the bile out of some massive swollen liver and bottling it for consumption. Wonderful. Also, there is a hint of dirty feet, or stinky cheese in the flavour, which compliments the bile like bitterness wonderfully.

HUGE hoppy aroma with a golden amber appearance. Big frothy two finger tan head, Nose is all hops with some sweetness, grapefruits, pine needles, mint and apricots. The lacing is absolutely amazing and just coats the glass with sticky foam. The flavor is just wonderful, biting hops on the tongue, but there is a big balancing malt backbone, though the hops definitely dominate. Sweet in the mouthfeel and bitter and dry in the finish. This is a cut and dry example of how a double IPA should taste.

Dense and crisp. Flavor of pear and grapefruit. The pine sweetness that appears in the nose carries into a medium finish. Sticky on the tongue. Yum!
