COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
15 years of brewing! You know what’s been the best part lately? Tons of experimentation! For the last couple of years, we’ve been working with several strains of brettanomyces (wild yeast). We found one and deemed it the best for it’s tart flavor and funky, fruity aroma. Adding black mission figs for a subtle jammy aspect, hibiscus flowers for an herbal bouquet and hazy sunset hue, and white pepper for a bit of spicy twang, we’ve created FIFTEEN - a unique drinking experience inspired by the wild farmhouse ales of Belgium. Though immensely complex today, more flavor will emerge with time, so throw a few bottles in your cellar for future celebrations. Thanks to all of you who have made our 15-year ride possible! Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, hops, black mission figs, hibiscus flowers, white pepper, and a very unique strain of brettanomyces yeast.

22oz bomber-A golden body with a small tight head and an aroma of belgian yeast, fruit, and spices Taste of yeast, sourness, and on the back end a little funk. Not the best anniversary ale from Avery. In fact probably their worse.

On tap at Papago. Pours medium gold with a 2 finger foamy white head that lasts and leaves decent lacing. The nose is barnyard funk, fruit and spice. The taste is fruit, peppery spice and yeast with mild earthy funk. Medium mouthfeel. Decent beer.

Lupulin Reunulin – Brickskeller. Light hazed gold, creamy white head. Floral oak and pepper aromas warm to hints of lemon zest. Light nutty earth and wood flavors balance on peppery fig and floral notes. 7.6% seems to shine a bit too much here. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Disappointing for an Avery Anniversary…

My, this certainly is a divisive beer. The description on the bottle did have me scared, and then the pour was much lighter (golden orange) and more transparent than expected, so combined with the low rating, I was not expecting much. But then I tried it. Lots of funky brett on the nose: lemon, rotting granny smith apples, earth, diapers. Makes me want to drink it, diapers and all. Taste doesn’t follow through as much as expected (tastes as grainy as yeasty), but perhaps bottle age will improve it a bit. A noble effort from Avery; wish more brewers would experiment with brett. If you like funky beers, this is worth trying, though you may want to age a bit first.

[bottle at EBF 2008] Excellent sour woody horseblanket aroma with still some base malt. Pale peach appearance under no foam--sort of like my pee when I’m dehydrated. Thin and weak flavour with some woody herbal spice. Very unimpressive and uncomplex. Some apple notes. Light body and clean with elevated carbonation.

22 ounce bottle from By The By The Bottle in the ’Couve, WA--Poured a bright orange-copper hazy body with no head. Some dull acidic brett in the nose. Figs and hibiscus were hard to detect though they were in there somewhere. Starts off with some promise up front. Sweet, a little tart and sour, but dies on the palate. Watery and mildly cloying. Probably the worst Avery beer I have ever had. Quite disappointing. Total drain pour. I feel robbed for paying almost $10 for this junk!

Bottle shared by nolankowal: Pours a hazy gold with a white head. Aroma, yeasty, pale malts, some wheat, lemon and pineapple, lightly tart and funky. Flavor, yeast, pale malts, bready notes, lightly tart, lemons, some spices, and a light funk to it. Solid brew.

Bottle shared at tasting. Thanks! Pours bright orange with a light white head. Smell is funky and band-aid like malt. Taste is funky, tart and bland. Medium body and carbonation. Not very good. Drinkable, but in no way enjoyable.

Pours a hazy peach color with a white head. Aroma is sweet brett, citrus, a hint of caramel, and some spicy notes. Flavor is citrus, sweet Brett, some funk, sweet fruit, and a peppery hop finish.
