COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For 14 wonderful years, we have been creating libations for ourselves in the hope that some others out there would share our eccentric palates and support us. Many thanks to all of you who do! Here is yet another quirky brew: a very dark and different, dry-hopped ale. Style? hard to say, you decide. Just expect massive molasses maltiness, limitless fruits on the nose and an imposing floral & zesty dry-hop finish. Peace to all and follow your dreams!

A Mes rate: Bottle at RBESG. Can’t see what all the fuss is about myself. Dark body with a slight tan head. Smells of molluscs. Totally over the top in the mouth with nothing even close to finesse. Sickly sweet. Very sticky. Not my thing at all.

Dark brown in color with a medium light-brown head. Aroma is resinous hops and caramel. Flavor is malty - caramel, light toffee, and a kind of wierd resiny hop combo. A decent beer, but a littly wierd on the palate being a pine-caramel combination. Finish lingers with both of these flavors battling as they subside...

Hmmm. This tastes incredibly familiar to me, much like The Reverend actually--which I didn’t like either. Aroma of spices, smoke, malt and black olives. Deep brown body with a medium head. Full palate with high carbonation. Lots of burnt malt tastes, with yeast dry spices and smoke. Bad aftertaste, too acrid for me.

Pours a dark brown with a sudsy tan head, Aroma is malty, with a hint of boild cabbage. In the mouth, it’s similar, roasted malts and mollassas, plus cabbage, which I guess goes with the bitter finish.

I just don’t get this brewery. It’s hard to put my finger on exactly what is always my problem with their beers. The main problem, of course, is that they’re too sweet because they are brewing in such humongous quantities and don’t get great attenuation, I think. But beyond that, even the malt flavor itself is very simple and devoid of any suppleness/depth. Very hard mouthfeel. The hops are rarely pleasant either. Forceful, bittering hops are boring and simplified grapefruit/pine. Granted, with this one, I will admit there is some tropical fruit/pineapple flavor and aroma, but it’s pretty marginal when taken with the bitterness and sugariness. Washed out texture from excessive filtration and alcohol apparency to boot. These Anniversary beers should be small batch beers, or unfiltered or something. I just can’t take these things any more. Barely choked my glass down.

This beer pours a deep brown/almost black with a medium tan head leaving some good lacing down the sides. Boy you get a nosefull when you take a whiff of this thing! It has a very strong burnt chocolate aroma that is very odd indeed! The flavor is chocolaty and roasty with a hint of hoppiness. That slight hop flavor tends to linger a bit too! This is not one of avery’s better brews... I expected a lot more from this beer and really all I got was strange and peculiar tasts. Cheers!

this beer smells just like The Beast - but the taste is no comparison. Pours nice dark brown color, nice foamy head. Tastes like a sweet porter. blah blah blah. it’s ok for 4.99.

The bomber decants as half completely opaque purplish brown-black liquid and half tan froth that requires minutes to subside, revealing demented op-art lace. The aroma struggles to combine thick chocolate-cocoa scents with fruity-tart impressions of blueberry, sweet cherry, and grape soda... and a new car/hot vinyl character casts an unwelcome pall. Flavors convey themselves as pure bedlam... one’s tongue is pummelled by bittersweet bakers’ chocolate and concentrated winey Costa Rican coffee, riddled with raisins and soy sauce, and underscored by phenolic clove and plastic tastes. Weirdly uber-thick milky, pasty palate. Some fetid fishty twang in the aftertaste. Promised hops are unable to emerge from this tarpit of a beer. Closer to a poorly designed imperial stout than anything else, the libation smothers the drinker with discombobulating sensory overload. Brutish and sodomizing.

Thanks to Nate for sharing. Deep burgundy color with a large, rocky beige head. Smells very hoppy with grapefruit, pine, citrus, ginger, and light roasted malt notes. Entirely too hoppy for me in smell and taste. Weird, and not enjoyable.

Wow...don’t know what this one was supposed to be but I did not enjoy it. I tried to drink this but fouind myself struggling from the very beginning. Admittedly, I’m not a big fan of brown ales so perhaps I’m missing the appeal. Not even sure if i could describe the taste properly...just bad. Perhaps a bad bottle?
