The hallmark of Belgian Triples are fruity esters balanced with a dry finish that fall in the range of 7-9% ABV. And for this year’s 19th anniversary celebratory brew, we decided to create a stylistically perfect beer—something unusual considering our penchant for producing eccentric beers that defy styles or categories.

In excited anticipation of 20 years and the new brewery, we concocted this very traditional, yeast driven, dry and fruity Tripel.

Hop Variety: Bravo, Czech Saaz
Malt Variety: Two-row barley, Wheat, Oats
Yeast Variety: Achouffe

Mild spice aroma to start this beer off, pours a hazy straw, with a thin white head. Light fruit flavor, with a touch of spicing, finishes dry. Very light mouthfeel, with no noticeable alcohol. A middle of the road, nothing out of the ordinary Tripel. Still very drinkable and enjoyable.

Location: Draft at the Ginger Man, 8/3/12

Aroma: This one has a rather fruity nose, with a good amount of Belgian yeast, and spice note
Appearance: It pours a cloudy golden color, with a thick, white head, and fairly heavy lacing
Flavor: The flavor is medium-plus sweet, with a good yeastiness, some funk, and some spice
Palate: It has a medium body, with a feel that is creamy and smooth, and a soft carbonation
Overall Impression: I really enjoyed this one. Three of us ordered this beer at the same time, and we all agreed that is was a quite good example of the style. It is a touch on the sweet side, but the sweetness, and everything else for that matter, works here.

This was really tasty. I went through this quickly. Very subtle farmhouse notes. A little spice and it adds up to a great beer. My favorite of the anniversary beers that I have tasted.

Draft. Pours a hazy yellow color. Notes of banana, candi sugar, noble hops, cinnamon, and grass. Nothing stands out.

(bottle - 22 oz) Cloudy gold pour with a fizzy white head. Mildly sweet and yeasty aroma with some light spice. Slightly bitter and floral at the start with a very mild fruity and sweet yeasty middle. Lightly bitter and spicy finish.

Cloudy white. Thin head. Sweet. Some citrus. Yeasty. Some spices. This is a great wit beer, not quite a began though.

Pours an average cheddar yellow with a nose of weak hay, light bready straw, and a touch of honeyed peach. Flavor is watery hay with stale sweetbread and lightly roasted dark fruit. Watery on the tongue. A mess.

22 oz. bottle shared by Tmoney99. Pours a slightly hazy yellow color with a large bubbly off-white head. The aroma has white pepper and herbal spiciness, white grapes, citrus, yeast, and bread with a splash of honey. The flavor has more white grape, yeast, herbal spice, white pepper, citrus and pale malts. This is dry, but also sweet.

Bomber. Poured hazy lighter golden with a tall, stark white head.. fine sediment suspended in there. The aroma picked up lemon zest, white pepper, cloves, and white vinous notes over crusty bread and a pinch of honey.. a touch on the assertive side, but I enjoyed it. The flavor found more of the honey than the nose indicated along with some pale malt at the core.. spicy, strong, and gripping notes around (cloves, white pepper, banana, and ginger).. finished strong with overripe banana, cloves, and light fruit skins. Medium-bodied with more filling carbonation on the palate.. this was good, especially if you’re looking for a sugary, aggressive tripel (and I was kind of in the mood).
