The hallmark of Belgian Triples are fruity esters balanced with a dry finish that fall in the range of 7-9% ABV. And for this year’s 19th anniversary celebratory brew, we decided to create a stylistically perfect beer—something unusual considering our penchant for producing eccentric beers that defy styles or categories.

In excited anticipation of 20 years and the new brewery, we concocted this very traditional, yeast driven, dry and fruity Tripel.

Hop Variety: Bravo, Czech Saaz
Malt Variety: Two-row barley, Wheat, Oats
Yeast Variety: Achouffe

Fruity aroma with belgian yeast and funk. Pours a beautiful golden colour with a quickly dissipating off white head, with good carbonation. Up front you get some of that fruity, peach flavor that soon gives way to that belgian yeast character followed by a little bit of funk, and some alcohol at the very end, and a dry finish. Overall, a very enjoyable beer, but does not hang in there with the best of them, however I would buy again.

Draft at ginger man. Wit like Belgian style (a little surprised to see it is a tripel). Wheat, orange peel, honey, a little pith. Nice gold pour. Good, and grows on you too.

Bottle. Pour is gold with no head/lace. Aroma of grass, belgo yeast, bread, citrus. Taste is sweet, malty, grassy, citrus, fruity esters, bubblegum, light booze. Palate is slick, low carbonation, sweet finish. Not dry enough; needs work.

170712. Tap at brouwers, seattle. Pours hazy yellow with a small head. Aroma belgian yeast, citrus, banana. Yeasty citrus taste. Medium carbonation. Feels half done. Not Bad

Draft at railroad. Pours hazy yellow with no head to speak of. Aroma has yeast, orange, orange peel, and some lemon. Taste is dry and has the citrus hit on the tongue. Good palate. Nothing crazy but enjoyable.

Bottle. Poured hazy yellow color with an average frothy white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate complex herbal citrus and yeast aroma. Medium body with a dry smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium citrus sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. This is a good beer.

On draft at Euclid Hall in Denver. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Nose is sweet malt, green apple, yeast, pepper, and red apple. Flavor is sweet malt, yeast, and pepper. Flavor lingers with sweet malt and pepper. Medium in body and a bit dry in the finish and very nice overall.

Pours super cloudy yellow with white head. Nose of light fruit, dry, pretty hoppy for a tripel. Same continues in to the palate but it’s lighter than most tripels...lower abv than most as well. Finish is dry and slightly acidic. I greatly enjoyed this, lots of flavour and easy to drink.

My neighbor and I drank this and the Great Divine Smoked Baltic Porter, on a lovely warm night in July (in Minnesota). Avery’s was rating 3.49, while Great Divide was at 3.55, so essentially the same. Both of us thought that the Avery was the superior of the two. Clear until we got to the bottom third of the bottle, the yellow liquid (with a loosely formed head) had multiple flavor notes--it had the yeast, but also had the coriander and fruit, and it had a decent body, though it wouldn’t have suffered from a bit more twang. Overall, a very decent Tripel.
