The hazy light copper colored body has a durable if short off-white head. Good lacing.
Aroma: tart and fruity: much more like a gose than a tripel.
Flavor: As tart as it smells, and then some; at least as much like a gose as a tripel..Higher ABV evident.
Feel: medium carbonation; medium-light body. Dry finish.

Bottle at Avery. Pours hazy gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes like dried light fruit, Belgian yeast, light spice, light herb. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet dried fruits, light yeast, light herb.

Bottled in April 2012. I picked this bottle up at a store that is going out of business soon and they had a bunch of aged beers there (I’m sure it wasn’t planned though). Pours a hazy light golden color with a little amber color and a thick white head. Aroma is of yeast, citrus, cloves, a little skunk, and a little pine. Nice, heavier bubbly palate. Flavor is of malts, esters, pine, cloves, citrus, bread, and some sweetness. Leaves a citrus yeast finish. Nice and balances. Having a beer aged 2.5 years will do that though.

"A fairly traditional tripel...a bit on the dry sweet and perhaps a touch sweet for the Belgian standard, but they got the style down pretty good. Classic nothing wrong beer that was quite good, but didn’t wow me. Worthy of a bottle, but an anniversary?"

Pours a cloudy yellow color. Aroma and taste are malts, yeast, and starts medium sweet with a lightly bitter finish.

Hazy yellow color, medium white head. Aroma of yeast, malt , fruits and flowers. Sweet malty , fruity taste with light bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation. Decent tripel , but from Avery i expected for more.

This is a tart beer. It has a slight lemon flavor, with a sharpness to it that makes it hard to go down very smooth.

August 5th, 2012 - Avery Brewing’s Anniversary series has always treated me right, all the way back to the origins of my craft beer days. In those times I think the idea of a beer commemorating an event was fairly novel. Stone had the famous Vertical Epic, but the sheer variety and creativity that having an annual brew in a thematic series was less common than today. That doesn’t mean Avery didn’t take the task lightly. Each brew in their anniversary cluster has either been unique (if not always my favorite) or exceedingly tasty. The 19 follows in this vein, beginning with a light straw colored body, a cloudy haze, and a club soda carbonation, lit up by light passing through the brew - no head to bar the way. Vanilla and banana crowd the aroma, giving it a heavy depth and muddy appeal - thick and custardy, too, giving this a natural place at the end of a dinner course. The flavor is a bit fruitier than the nose, introducing some pear up front, which then backs off to let the more traditional tripel-style flavors come in: banana, clove, etc. The aftertaste is marked with notes of white grapes and even more banana and clove, though it has a slight acidity that reminds me of a Berlinerweisse. The booziness doesn’t interfere with the flavor at all, letting the aftertaste wrap up each sip with a distinctly dulcet and sweet banjo-style twang.

P: Pale bright yellow color that is evenly hazed. White fizzy head that lasts a few seconds and disappears.
S: Lime, lemon, tart and acidic, yikes stripes fruit striped gum, mango, pineapples, warmed milk in cereal, and bready yeast.
T/M: Dank earthy tropical fruit, musty mouth coating, tart lemon and limes. Belgian candy sugar, spices, and powdery yeast. Bitterness is apparent but subdued by the sweet alcohol. Booze starts to swarm once warm. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Finish is dry and bitter fruit soaked alcohol.
O: A nice anniversary surprise. A solid tripel that delivers complex flavors. The acidity was a tad much but overall a great beer to enjoy. Cheers!
