3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Tonkun (319) - New York, USA - NOV 1, 2012Bottle. Golden orange pour with a white head that disappears quickly. Candied pineapple, banana, floral. Creamy carbonation. Medium body with nice balance of flavor and approachability. A bit of bitterness at the end. Well balanced and easy to drink. But with nice depth and layers of flavor.

This an excellent tripe,. Looks and smells light. The flavor is simple but easy to drink and tasty. Nothing out of the ordinary but done well.

Draft @ Sunset Grill and tap. Tulip shows a completely hazy bright gold. Retention for days, sheets down the glass. Big aroma of fruity esters of cloves, bananas and pears. The flavor features the yeast. Again mostly banana, sweet pears, sweet malt / bread and candi sugar. Mild hop bitterness and a dry finish. Chewy thicker body. ABV is hidden well. Overall this is well above average in style regardless of what others say. I would drink this any day of the week. Not sure how it translates into a bottle but I was happy with it on draft!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Marheb (1167) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 10, 2013
Pas mal sur le style, mince en bouche et pas mal sucré. La levure belge est bien contenue mais les saveurs sont un peu grossière comparativement aux versions classiques.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 glennmastrange (1886) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - FEB 7, 2013
Bottle. Moderate grain and cereal for the malt, light to moderate perfume for the hops, light soap for the yeast, with pear and pepper in the background. Head is average size, frothy, slightly off-white with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky medium amber. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, slick with a soft to lively carbonation, and a lightly alcoholic finish. A very tasty beer, reminds me of Springtime. Maybe not as Tripel-ish as the standard, but enough so to deserve it’s high score.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Darwenus (386) - Virginia, USA - FEB 4, 2013
The color is nothing special, it’s yellow and hazy with a medium head. The aroma is fairly standard for a triple, bananas and citrus and a little bit of hops, with that usual, mildly cabbage-like tone in the background. The taste is pretty good. There’s enough malt in the finish to surprise me a little bit. Overall, no better than the Trader Joe’s Belgian I bought on the same day, but it cost a hell of a lot more than the Trader Joe’s did.

Taste is moderately sweet, orange, coriander, some spicy/dusky, straw, cotton candy. Somewhat dry finish, medium body that’s somewhat undercarbonated.

Bomber. Nose is lightly lemon-citric with lovely Saison-like herbal and floral accents, pale malt and light yeast, touch of chalk, some additional grassy hops with the sweetness, plenty of fruit. Pours a clear, bright yellow-golden with a quickly dissipating head. Taste is more complex than a ’normal’ tripel, tons of great Saison notes here, heavy clover honey with floral tones and sticky malt, overripe fruit and a touch of scratchy chalk, gentle but enveloping bitterness, alcohol plays a restrained and sophisticated a role and contributes most in the warming throat and chest. Oily, slick medium body, spicy yeast, all about the yeast, even have some yeasty bread on the back end. Noble hops and are noble but modest, and the overall experience announces its modern hybridization while flashes its traditional roots. A pleasant sipping experience and much better than recent anniversaries from Avery.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Quasimodo (217) - chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 17, 2013
A fizzy yellow tripel. Faint yeast aroma of fruit, earth and spice. Flavor is booze and peppery Saaz hops. Not much else, really. Moderate bitterness with a boozy and short bitter finish. This is easily the worst Tripel I’ve ever had.
