COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Bottle. Dark opaque brown with small light brown head. Yeasty aroma of cookies, wheat, dark cherries, vanilla and banana. Fruity and yeasty flavour of vherries, banana, sweet licorice, rose petals and spices. Full bodied. Vinous aftertaste of licorice, banana, black pepper and alcohol.

This beer pours a dark almost black brown with a small black head. Lots of coffee and roasted malts in the smell and flavor. This is a very well crafted beer! Cheers!

Aroma of spices, banana esters, and chocolate. In addition, the flavor has hints of cloves, and fruitiness. A nice bitterness that lingers and the alcohol warms the body. A very complex and balanced beer.

Good sized dense head of fine off-white bubbles. Reduces slowly. Minimal carbonation. Roasty aroma with a bit of chocolate and dark fruit. Color is a very dark ruby brown. Fruity and malty. Some prunes and dates along with a big helping of roasted malts and a touch of coffee at the finish. Some spices present. Noticable alcohol warming. Pretty sweet and a little unsettling. A little bitterness at the finish and a lingering smoky aftertaste. Decent but is not sitting well in the stomach.

I got lots of spice, some banana and chocolate in the aroma. Tasted like that too, but had a slight metalic aftertaste. Odd style, but it was very good.

tjthresh (1849) - Greenfield, Indiana, USA - JUL 4, 2006
This bottle was provided to me by BeerandBlues2. Poured into my glass with a dark, mostly opaque brown color with some purple highlights. Ample light brown head formed, but left behind no lace. The aroma was chocolate cover raisins, with some cherry, and smoke complexity. The flavor was mostly the same. There was also some tobaco character in the flavor. The palate was fluffy, and full. Rolled nicely from the front to back. Long alcohol finish.

A very good brew, but I was expecting something with a different character than a dopplebock. A nice clean raisiny aroma and warming palate. Not too viscous, either.

bottle. Pours a dark, rich red with a foamy tan head. Very sweet, creamy aroma rich of sweet fruit ala pears and grapes, breadiness. The flavor is rich of grapes, toffee, cherries, mild nutmeg, a bit of toast. Chocolate comes out in the finish. Great take on this style.
