COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Beerlando (3324) - Orlando, Florida, USA - APR 7, 2008
2006 bottle, aged nearly 2 years. Pours an extremely dark crimson color that appears black from a distance. A large, foamy, tan head leaves random flares of lacing behind. The aroma shows a sweet and malty base of dark caramel, banana bread, gingerbread, and nutmeg. I’m definitely getting a "baked goods" feel on the nose. The flavor is more of the same, with ultra-rich caramelized malts, cocoa, banana, cinnamon, and bready yeast all coming through fairly strong. Very little hop character, as the malts clearly dominate this one. Slightly more substantial than medium-bodied, but most of the fullness seems to come from sugar. Overly sweet up front, transitioning to a sour, dry, woody note on the finish. I’ve been digging this style recently, but this one is just a bit too sweet for my liking.

Pours a thick black with a thin cream head. Aroma is chocolate\y. Mouthfeel is thick with roasted malts and bitter dark chocolate.

(22 oz. bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/massachusetts/w target=blank>Julio’s Liquors) Pours dark crimson-ish brown, hard to tell if it’s cloudy or not because it’s quite dark. Surprisingly very little head, even when poured into a weizen glass. Aroma is booze and brown sugar. Mouthfeel is kind of thick and syrupy, maybe a little flat. A few traces of lacing. Flavor is about what I expected from aroma - big boozy sticky sweetness. Lots of alcohol taste with a very brown sugary malt sweetness. Gets a little chocolatey in finish as it warms. A little more bitter than a typical weizen bock. Alot of good weizen bocks are boozy and sweet but this one doesn’t offer much more than that. Could use a little more refinement and complexity, along with more wheat presence. Still a pretty good beer but a definite booze-hound. This bottle may have been past its prime.

riversideAK (4553) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - MAR 28, 2008
Dark brown with a nice beige head. Aroma of dark malts, wheat, a little salty soy, and a super light amount of spice. More dopplebock than weizen bock to me anyways. Dark malts manifest them in semi sweet chocolate, fruit, salty soy, and bread with light spicy yeast in the finish. Finishes rather clean really, and is very easy to drink. An enjoyable brew.

Dark ruby color with generous head. High alcohol content obvious in the malty aroma. Sweet, malty, bready taste. Great chewy palate.Complex and nicely balanced hoppy finish. Perfect example of this style

Pours a dark ruby brown in color. Smell is all toffee and malt. Taste is incredible, I’m really loving this beer. There is a sweetness coming through that I’m thoroughly enjoying. Smooth on the mouthfeel. I’m definitely going to have to pick up another bottle of this.

Brown with medium beige head. Sweet roasted malt in the nose that also holds notes of caramel, chocolate and alcohol. Sweet flavor with roasted malt, caramel, spices and chocolate.

MoDog (927) - Griffith, Indiana, USA - MAR 17, 2008
Poured from a 22oz bomber and served in a Bell’s dimpled mug. This beer poured a dark brown with a lasting head of tan foam. The aroma of the beer was made up of dark fruits, toffee, caramelized sugar, banana esthers, and also a bit of chocolate. The flavor started with dark fruits and bittersweet chocolate. Then some toffee and caramel finished off with a lasting alcoholic banana note. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and smooth with moderate carbonation. Quite tasty!

Overall a very good complex beer. It pours a dark brown with a miniscule off-white head. Aroma smells of chocolate, molasses, and dark fruit. The head quickly dissolves and there you have all of these flavors in a light, flavorful, porter-like beer. It finishes as it starts, but with a tang of bitterness. I would definitely drink it again, if I found it.

pours the same color dark brown as the bottle. it’s topped by a rocky tan head with some light lacing. this smells of dark raisins, yeast, spice (possibly from the abv%) and metallic maltiness. the flavor is lightly bready with notes of brown sugar, spices, dark raisins and cocoa. alcohol is welcomed in the finish. aftertaste is fruity yeast... almost banana like. medium to full bodied, low carbonation and a nice smooth mouth feel.
