COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unlucky 13? If anything, 13 has been a lucky number and year for us! Here is our version of a Weizen Doppelbock, a very rarely brewed style marrying the complexities of two great German traditions, Weiss and Doppelbock. The aroma is dominated by fruity and spicy esters produced by the German Weiss yeast strain with a dry drinkability from the wheat malt. The flavor and color are dominated by the unique specialty grains that produce the Doppelbocks flavors of fresh baked bread, toffee and cocoa, and a dark-ruby red hue. Since goats have traditionally adorned Bock labels, we chose a Rocky Mountain Goat for this Rocky Mountain Bock. Peace to all and follow your dreams! Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, malted wheat, imported German specialty grains and hops, and one unique German yeast.

Bomber. pours deep red with a thin tan head. Smells, of raisins, plums, other dark fruits, and alcohol. Good medium mouthfeel, bready, quite well balanced, but a little hot. Solid beer tho overall.

I remember buying this awhile ago when Woodman’s Oak Creek opened but I didn’t realize it was already three years old when I bought it. All the weizen was pretty much gone but it still was drinkable, though I’m assuming much better fresh. Dark caramel with a brown thin crown. Aroma of dark malt, soy sauce, booze, yeast and more malt. Taste of dia-soy-tl, toffee, malt, alcohol, brown sugar and light chocolate. Kind of a porty feel with the soy but countered by the butteriness. Stuff like this is making me on a mission to drink the end of my cellar the end of 2011 and keep any buying in check until I’ve got a handle on things that have gotten too old.

(22oz bomber thanks to blutt59) clear rich brown with a few tan bubbles. Nose of raisin, vanilla, rum, and a bit oxidized/papery. Taste of chocolate, fudge, a bit of oxidation but appropriate here. Well carbonated with a medium thick body.

Enjoyed from a 22oz bomber in a pub glass. The beer pours a deep brown/mohogany color, with a low to moderate off-white head. The nose shows characters more reminiscent of a doppelbock than a weizenbock, with the lion’s share of the latter’s characteristic ester profile seeming having faded away over the beer’s extended life on the store shelf. Really nice raison and deep caramel malt notes come through, with a underlying slightly fruity yeast note. The palate is full, without being filling; showing all the best characteristics of a doppelbock. Deep malt complexity, slightly oxidized notes, and no evidence of alcohol. The finish is slightly sweet and malty. Overall, an excellent beer, even when consumed well past the time intended by the brewer.

hazy deep brown with tan head. nose of clove with some oxidation. some bitterness before yeast-derived clove esters with some muting from the age. munich malt is present but not overwhelming. alcohol provides nice depth. overall a beer whose flavor may be somewhat muted due to the age, but the tempering of the alcohol results in a remarkably drinkable brew and a great version of the style

750ml bottle - thanks to blutt59. Dark brown color - aromas of toffee and brown sugar. Flavor is very smooth and tasty - hard to believe this is 4 years old! Caramel and roasted malt flavors with a bit of a wheat bite.

Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this bottle. Didn’t think I would get to try this one nearly five years after it was released. The beer pours a dark brown color with a brown head. The aroma is heavy on the toffee and caramel malt notes, with a little bit of wheat mixed in as well. The flavor has a lot of toffee, wheat and caramel. I also get quite a bit of brown sugar, making the beer fairly sweet. The alcohol is very well hidden for a beer of this strength. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

bottle, thanks via trade to the bald wizard, dark sugary brown color. aroma of strong brown sugar and cream of wheat, flavors of sugary malt cereal, brown sugar, mexican praline and fruity, this has held up well

Clear dark brown beer. Short lived tan head. Smooth malty caramel - chocolate with a banana streak. Silky spirity malt. A biting carbonation before the malty-spirity finish. A boozy bananoffee surprise!

I was skeptical about this 4 year old brew but it was very good. A- Pours a dark brown with ruby highlights and a beige head. light lacing. S- dark fruits. T- dark fruits, cherry chocolate. reminds me a of a quad. M- medium body, good carbonation. D- almost done with a bomber right now. this is a fairly big beer, but very enjoyable and i’d say 22oz is the perfect amount.
