COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Another year and our best yet. Twelve glorious years total! Thanks guys and gals! As you’ve probably noticed, along the way we’ve developed quite a fetish/addiction for Belgian-style brews. Here’s another style we’ve been craving to concoct - an intricate Saison, full of zesty citrus and spicy notes paired with a subtle herbaceous essence. Brewed with Rocky Mountain water, malted barley, imported Belgian malted wheat, sweet orange peel, lemon peel, grains of paradise, chamomile, lavender, hops, and Belgian yeast.

clear dark yellow, big creamy white head that settles down into a nice fine head after leaving a bit of drippy lace behind, big ginger aroma with a hint of cinimon and/or nutmeg, smooth creamy body, well spiced malt flavor, nice ginger bite, spiced more like a winter warmer than a saison but on the light malt character of a saison

Bottled in 2005. Bought 27July2007. Tasted 29July2007. Aroma--very strong cinnamon aroma with hints of citrus (lemon?). Appearance--In the tulip, the brew appeared to have a "glowing" deep orangish-yellow. Flavor/Palate--Starts off thin at first with a mild expressions of the cirtusy and cinnamon characteristics. Hint of a soury-sweet maltiness. Finishes with a sticky bitterness from the hops. Overall--just recently discovered the "saison style". Not sure what the "standard" for a saison wold be. Overall, very enjoyable brew.

From my fall 2006 notebook. Dark yellow/gold color with a strong hoppy aroma with some saison spices. Overly hoppy for me at the time but I suspect my tastes may have changed in the interim.

22oz. Bottle: Heavily sweet aroma. Smells of cinnamon, lavender, apples, spices, soap, honey, yeast, and herbs. Poured a dark yellow urine color with a medium-sized off-white head that lasted throughout. Excellent lacing. Cloudy. Sparkling. Lots of tiny floating particles. Flavor is medium sweet but not bitter. Tastes heavily of cinnamon, with a hint of yeast and herbs. Medium body. Dry texture. Lively carbonation. Dry cinnamon finish. Overall, very odd. Pretty much liquid cinnamon.

Bottle. Golden-orange, a bit unclear body with a nice, white head. Both flavor and aroma are too much on the cinnamon side, way too much, but it isn’t bad, it’s just too much. The flavor is sweet and sugary as well, and the beer really pushes the borders if it is supposed to be a saison. Dusty, medium mouthfeel. Sugary, cinnamon finish. The beer feels refreshing in a way, but would do better without the cinnamon-domination. (070608)

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2008 Weird beer. Didn’t expect it to be so pale, didn’t expect the aroma, didn’t expect the taste....just a unique drinking experience. The aroma reminds me of other saisons, but more muted. The taste is fruity, with a bit of...talc? Spicy.

Purchased at the Beverage Castle, Tampa, FL, and drank on July 10, 2007. So, I got home and The Bride calls me - "I’m still in vacation mode" She says. "I really want to have a couple of drinks, but it’s Tuesday, and I’m thinking we should cut back a bit. What do you think?" "Are you asking me to be the voice of reason and restraint?" I say. "Have you even met me?" So a few minutes later we’ve craked this one open. Cloudy yellow, huge white head. I really liked the aroma, it seemed to walk a line between a Belgian Wit and a Saison, a theme that would continue. Orange and coriander up front, plus fresh ginger and a bit of cinnamon. Maybe some fresh lime, too. The initial taste was a bit sweeter than I expected from the aroma. Lemon and ginger again, plus, in addition to fresh ginger, there was a ginger snap cookie flavor, too. Some nice oaky white wine notes, as well. As it warms, a cedery, earthy note emerges. Very enjoyable mid-week quencher, and seems to have held up well.

Cloudy blond color. The aroma ha some citrus touch, and a sharp cardamom character; it smells to much like Swedish cakes. Quite dry mouthfeel, malt flavor, little residual sugars, a lot of spices. It’s drinkable, but the spices are too much for me.

650ml bottle. Hazy orange body with a big white head. Aroma is a bit strange, reminds me of synthetic washing up soap. Flavor is a bit synthetic as well, spicy and not totally bad. This is just not comparative to a Belgium Saison.
