3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz bottled mid May @ 50º into 14.7oz Zwiesel cognac snifter; Off-white head with several large soapy bubbles supported by a thick, tightly structured base leaving multiple peninsulas, thin islands, and spots of lace over a vibrant clear amber body; Sticky sweet citrus, pine, and spice merging into solid background notes of floral-earthy-onion; Sticky mmh, well carbonated body leaving a drying citrus and pine mouth; rich and hoppy, but I guess I was expecting something more memorable

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a bottle. A nice thick white head forms on the pour. Crystal clear with an orange/honey hue. Super clear. Head lasts and leaves plenty of lacing and legs. Aroma is intense hops with both pine and grapefruit coming to the forefront. Cascade and Amarillo are present. Flavor is dominated by hops so much that I even though I know there’s malt there, I have a hard time picking it up. The honey malt provides some sweetness undertones. Body is light and finish is extremely sharp and biting.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Poured crystal-clear, lighter golden with a lovely cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up fresh pine, grapefruit, and peppery hoppage over biscuity notes, caramel, and a touch of vanilla.. big and very welcoming. The flavor found sweet caramel and biscuity notes again at the core, with very high black pepper, pine, and citrus bitterness laced throughout.. transitions were OK, but it was a little green and sharp at times.. finished spicy with lots of residual hops and belly warmth. Medium-plus bodied with filling carbonation on the palate.. not the smoothest, most consistent flow, but it was a very solid brew overall.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber poured into a tulip; pours clear amber with a small white head. Nose is citrus, peach, grapefruit, hops. Flavor follows with a nice balance of hoppy bitterness and malty sweetness. Not as bold as some other DIPAs I’ve had, but overall very good.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Classic DIPA look, with clear, amber colored body, two finger thick durable head, and gentle carbonation streamer. the smell was a little subdued (for the style), with hay, grapefruit, and honeydew melon in the nose, but not an assault. The taste delivered more hops than the nose hinted at, with a tropical fruit (apricot, persimmon, mango) flavor, followed by some herbs (mint, parsley, coriander) and a decent amount of sweet malt backing. Quite sticky and soft in the mouth, with not much of a carbonation zing. It’s a good, gentle DIPA, for a late night relaxing. Not a bruiser.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Massively immense pine and tree sap hop aroma annihilates the nose. Majestic copper brown with a thin foam rim. Strong bitter hop bite upfront which is quickly replaced by heavy caramel, molasses, herb and maple syrup malt flavors. Overall, this is a very thick and complex DIPA. Complex flavors and heavy thickness. Well done brew from Avery. A rating.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bomber, bottled May 2013--can’t get much fresher than that! Pours a nearly clear old gold bordering on copper hue with a medium cream-colored head that falls into a blanket after a minute; leaves nice lace. Aroma is fairly dank, vegetal, catty, doughy, pineapple. Flavor is an explosion of citrus and pineapple, along with a nice dose of fresh pine needles; I can’t recall ever having a beer this citrusy from hops alone with no added fruit. Taste is bittersweet, with neither sensation in high abundance. Mouthfeel is creamy, carbonation fine, body full. Initially, I was a little worried with the aroma, but the taste more than made up for it. An extraordinary Imperial IPA. Addendum: upping the aroma score. The vegetal aspect disappears after sitting in the glass for awhile, leaving only citrus, pineapple and pine...the good stuff.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber split with Anndiesel. Filtered orange-tan body. Frothy, foamy off-white head. Green garlic, green onion a top of tropical citrus..super fresh bold hops. Really clean body, lets the hops shine. The touch of honey malt adds a nice sweetness and depth. Pretty much a phenomenal IIPA...displaying some nice tropical Simcoe tones.
