3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BlackForestCO (958) - Aurora, USA - APR 15, 2008
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2009 On tap. Poured a lightly hazy golden-orange color with a moderate fizzy white head that left some lacing. Aroma of barnyard, brett, funk, some citrus, and a hint of wine. Flavor starts out with a nice dry, cobweb flavor with light citrus and funk that leads into a nice tart brett finish with hints of wine grapes and oak. Spritzy and full on the palate. Definitely something I wish Avery would bottle.

Taste is somewhat sweet up front, with lemon, pineapple, apricot and exotic fruits. Medium to light carbonation. Would love it if Avery bottled some of their sours other than Brabant.

Light cloudy golden color, gigantic off-white lacy head. Nose bursts w/ apricot and funky cheese...a beautiful nose fo sho. Flavors contain more apricot but grains seem to get in the way...like a sour mash beer. Some dry apricots in the finish. The sourness in this beer is weak, and the grains get in the way, but that nose was nice as hell.
