COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dank u wel for all the help, Gast! It’s been very relevant! An expansive Flanders-esque blend as complex, assertive, an infectious as its namesake - although quite a bit more acidic and less injury prone. Proost! 67% ale aged in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels, 17% ale aged in bourbon barrels, 8% ale aged in rum barrels, & 8% ale aged in Chardonnay barrels.

Bottle from Tap & Handle. Pours dark brown with a tiny beige head and a sour fruit aroma. There is a magnificent sour brown flavor with a lot of substance and a lot of sour. Almost, but not quite puckeringly sour.

Hmmm....judging from the recent ratings seems to be some bottle variation on this one. Cellared at 50 degrees since release from brewery. Cap comes off with a puff....thick pillowy slowly fading head. Great carbonation. Sour wood, red fruit, red wine barrel on the nose. Tart red fruit (cranberry, currant), pineapple flavors, lemon tartness, and red wine elements. Delicious stuff.

Wow this one was pretty rough. Poured a ruby red color with a small off whtie head. Aroma was of super sour vinegar and rotting vegetables and bourbon. Falvo was pretty similar, mouth puckering, vinegar, odd saltiness and barrel. Just weird and not in a good way.

Bottle shared thanks to hornydevil. Pours a clear brownish yellow without much of a head. Honey-like aroma with slight vinegar in there. Taste is mostly acetic. Super sour to the point that it produces phlegm.

From the March 2014 Pittsburgh Ratebeer gathering. +++ sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with orange highlights and a small beige head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was sour, tart, acidic, astringent and vinegary. The flavor was tart, and astringent with notes of vinegar, caramel and nut. Long tart and astringent vinegar finish. Light body. Disappointing.

12 oz bottle thanks to pat. Pours a dark dark red almost purple with a thin off white head. Wine oak and dark fruit aroma. Taste is the same, as it warms a bit of a bourbon taste comes out.

Bottle thanks to the Dood! Pours a deep reddish amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a strong dry red wine note with acidic red fruits and a good amount of barrel. Flavor starts with strong sour red grapes and a dry red wine note with a bit of barrel backing.

From Chris. Thanks! A: An almost lifeless mahogany with red/purple edges. Head fizzes out quickly. Could be a lot more enticing. N: Deep oak, acetone, vinegar, and cherry. Vinous wine grape as well as sweet red grapes. Some leather and a touch of tobacco leaf. T: Puckering sourness and a very, very sharp acidity. Some light sweetness and more of the acetone/vinegar. A bit sulfuric. M: Alcohol is well hidden. Body is spritzy and biting, and it’s a bit dense and oily. O: Enjoyable, but I’d like a touch more sweetness for balance and a slight reduction in ABV to loosen the strings a bit more.

355mL from the reserve list at Blue Palms. Dark near black pour with lower tan foam. Clear ruby highlights. Chocolate and black cherry nose, saltwater, plum. Hot acetic taste. More saltwater, balsamic vinegar. Eh. Drinkable but super salty. Some dark cherry and chocolate save the taste, but it’s still spicy and salty. Some steak and dark fruit plum and chocolate. Not bad.

12oz bottle, thanks to adnielsen. Bottled June 14, 2012. Totally hazy muddy dark brown / slightly red color. Minimal off-white head. Minimal lace. Awesome dark spicy fruit aroma, complex tannins and barrel notes, some spicy barrel flavors, light vanilla. Awesome complex barrel influences here, plays well with the natural, tart dark fruit. Awesome big tart sour taste, just short of puckering, I like that. Just a light acidic bite in the finish. Medium to bigger body. Lightly dry finish. Love the complexity of the different barrel notes in this, I feel like you can savor each individually, each shine in a balanced way. Awesome, complex barrel aged beer
