COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dank u wel for all the help, Gast! It’s been very relevant! An expansive Flanders-esque blend as complex, assertive, an infectious as its namesake - although quite a bit more acidic and less injury prone. Proost! 67% ale aged in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels, 17% ale aged in bourbon barrels, 8% ale aged in rum barrels, & 8% ale aged in Chardonnay barrels.

Brown brown with thin but lasting tan brown head. Aroma has that sweet apple sauce lacto Avery sour thing (see all sour series). Then goes acetobacter acids (almost balsamic vinegar) which dovetails with a heavy sweet wine fruitiness and a touch of that bourbon vanilla. Dont really catch the rum in their, but dark rummish fruits ( plum, dates,) do come forward in the flavor profile. Lacto tongue feel that lingers sour and coats the palate. Sweet more than lactic on the taste. A beautiful blend of spritzier fruits from the wine meet the darker fruits with delicacy, but as the beer warms it becomes more sweet than my likings. Yep, "they are who we thought the were!"

Bottle via trade. Pours out a deep brownish, ruby hue with a solid amount of carbonation and a small off white head. Aroma is of very complex, some grape notes, barrel, tart cherries, light acidic notes. Taste is equally complex, sweet/tart cherries, funk, woodsy barrel, light dried fruits, sweetness, light molasses, mild alcohol, lingering tartness. Wow! Super complex.

Bottle. Dark brown, flat. Nose of chocolate, fruit, funk, vinegar, oak barrel. sour and acetic, cherr, fruit, wood, wine. COmplex flavors that are not immediately likeable but grew on me until I was digging it a lot.

12 oz. bottle shared by stevemastny- thanks again, Steve! Pours a ruby-brown color with a small tan head. Notes of tart cherries, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, grapes, and oak. Light-bodied, with medium carbonation and a sour, funky mouthfeel. Not a ton of bourbon barrel character here, so the alcohol is sneaky. Good sour brown.

Chilled 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a sample glass. Pours dark brown with small light brown head. Medium body and low carbonation. Taste is sour, oak, and a hint of dark malt. I prefered Immitis over this.

12 ounce bottle thanks to robloc303. Pours a darker brown with a greyish head of foam. Aroma is a fizzy tart with a fruity nuance. Tart and malty in the taste. Odd is the best word I can come up with to sum this beer up.

Bottle thanks to adnielsen. Pours a deep rusty brown color with a two finger fizzy eggshell foam. On the nose it is very acidic with deep vinegar, red vinous grape notes and a touch of sweet tarts. The palate has much softer acidity than the nose would lead you to believe... nice roasty caramelized flavors of rotten berry, apple cider and chocolate undertones. Great barrel complexity with touches of boozy spice from the rum and smooth vanilla, vinous berry and more barrel character just layers your palate with great flavor. Nice touch of carbonation helps this beer as well.

Bottle; Pour is murky brown with a very modest khaki head in this glass. It quickly rings the glass, with very light lacing present. The nose is vinegar, dark fruits with raisin, vinousness, but overall ; a bit muted here. The flavor profile has more depth here; There is a tartness present initial, more vinegar and acetic quality here ; the barrel treatment comes through with the rum barrel , moving to an earth quality. There is a hint of bourbon, but more vinousness in my opinion here. This one fades a bit on the tongue, and I think thats the more disappointing quality, besides the appearance. Overall, a fine attempt however.
