COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Noticing that our private cellar bottle stock of sour ale was fast dwindling, we decided to blend a very small batch from five of our finest barrels to produce this, No. 5 in our Barrel-Aged Series. Brewery release only. 60 cases shared. 27 hoarded. This beer consists of: 37% Ale aged in Cabernet Savignon barrels, 25% Ale aged in Chardonnay barrels, 21% Ale aged in Port barrels and 17% Ale aged in Zinfandel barrels. It measures at 9.91% ABV and will be sold in single 12 oz. single bottles. “Quinquepartite” translates to “divided into or composed of five parts.” It is slightly less saucy than the name, “Dupuceleuse,” chosen for #4 in the set.

Bottle from Nick -- thanks, Nick! Lively carbonation. Very vinous. Complex yet delicate notes of vanilla, light wood, sour cherries, white wine, freezer jam, and yeast esters. Healthy sourness but not mouthpuckering. Slightly warming on the throat. Zingylicious finish. Flavors intensify as it warms to room temperature. Overall, very pleasant and richly flavored.

12 oz bottle. Cloudy orange brown with white froth. Nose is sour cherry, oak and leather. Medium light with a foamy mouthfeel. Taste is cherry, strawberry preserves, apricot, lemon juice and toffee. Not so vinous, a fruity Flanders hybrid; curious stuff.

murky bright orange gold with a nice tope head, good lace and ring... nice complex but not overstated nose, very vinous, mostly white wine notes, grass, grape skins, oak, brett sour, a little light, if stronger would be awesome... the taste is awesome, a tons going but supremely drinkable, lots of oak, brett, a sour bite with a white wine backbone, reminds me a bunch of a cabernet savignon... this is a great sour, and if you like wine, you will LOVE this

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden body with an off white head. Aromatically vinous with apple, sour bruin, win y, vinous, Cabernet and brett tones. Big cherry notes, Chardonnay, port wine, and cab. Crazy big warmth and big wine notes, tastes a bit like someone spilled wine in my sour ale.

In short: A golden ale with plenty of vinous barrels and a nice barnyard/farmhouse character. My type of wild ale. Great beer.
How: From a bottle at Extreme Beer Fest 2011, Night Of The Barrels
The look: Cloudy dark golden-amber body topped by a small off-white head
In long: The nose is very barnyard and with a bunch of wet barrels. I really loved that nose. Taste packs a lot of cereals but doesn’t come with the sweetness sensation that plagued all other wild/sour Averys I’ve had before. Some funk, earthy fruits, a whole lot of wet wood barrels, vinous notes, noble rot. Finish is somewhat dry, tart and a bit acidic. Sourness level is actually relatively low for a Wild/Sour ale, this is definitely more wild/barnyard than it is sour. By far the best wild/sour Avery I’ve had, they need to make this one a regular. Ok, so this beer abv is 9.91%. That’s precise. I find it amazing that we can make a beer and know exactly the % of alcohol the 0.01% and yet despite all our technologies we are still unable to make a car mirror in which objects appear exactly as far away as they really are.

Bottled. An unclear dark golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of fruit, wood, and vinegar. The flavor is sweet with notes of maltc, caramel, vinegar, grapeffuit, and wood, leading to a dry and tart finish.
