Margarete, the object of wanton desire, is a seductive stout transformed by sour cherries and 11 months internment in bourbon barrels into a devilish union of decadent fragrances and flavors. 89 Cases

Bottle. Thanks Theis for sharing. Pours jet black with a brown head. The aroma is heavy roasted with notes of lovely sour cherries, chocolate, light coffee, light licorice and has some notes of ripe dark berries. The bourbon is devilish! The flavour is very intense! Hard roasted malt, sweet caramel, cherries, bourbon, ripe fruit, cocoa and light coffee. Long sweet roasted cherry finish. Wow!!!

Pours a thick, opaque black with a thin tan head. Dark, full caramel aroma with bitter chocolate roastedness, vanilla, oak, and Bourbon elements. The flavor follows directly from the aroma profile with the addition of some dark fruit elements. The body is thick and rich and delivers the intense flavor profile heavily on the palate.

very dark oily color. The cherries and cocoa flavors and aroma are perfection together. Quite a beverage.

Beautiful black pour. Smells like chocolate berries and chocolate. Strong sweet taste with bitter chocolate. I can drink it all day.

From a bottle during Euclid Hall’s Midnight Breakfast, Thursday 2011 GABF. Pitch black with a thin dissipating head. Heavy aroma of sour cherries, deep dark chocolate, a bit of cinnamon, espresso, and sticky bun. Big boozy flavor, but even the alcoholic phenols have a deligtful flavor. Roasty chocolate, boozy sour cherries, cinnamon, oak, and burnt caramel. Complex as all heck and delicious to boot. Just a little too heavy on the booze. Otherwise this is sublime.

On tap for the GABF Tappings at the Avery Tap Room on September 28, 2011. Pours black with a short, creamy khaki head. Aroma of toasted oats with only a hint of dark fruit. The flavor is of dark chocolate and light espresso with a finish of sour cherry. Beautifully blended. The alcohol is very present. Full bodied. Outstanding.

(12oz bottle) clear espresso brown with soapy tan bubbles. Nose of oatmeal cookie, cherry, bourbon, wood splinters, brown sugar, a tiny bit of alcohol, maple, very rich and complex nose. Taste of rich chocolate, cherry, alcohol, raisin, sweet chocolate, nice and woody. Very complex here as well. Extremely unique and awesome.

Huge thanks to Aaron for sharing - dark brown to black pour, with an impressive lace for something with such high abv - loads of earthy cherry in the nose (skin, flesh, pit) - light oak and chocolate - smells fantastic - flavor is pretty hot - I know it is 15%, but it sure does burn - cherry flavor is fairly dull at this stage - not at all as vibrant as the in the nose - surprisingly dry, with lots of roastiness and char - some moderate chocolate truffle sweetness on the tail end works okay with what little cherry is left - lots of heat in the finish - wish it tasted as good as it smelled - perhaps if I had it fresh? - seems to be declining fast.

Bottle huge thanks to Aaron for this. Pour is black as night, with a thin tan head. Aroma has notes of chocolate, cherry skin notes, toffee, molasses, brown sugar, some dark fruit, slight alcohol but not much for a 15% brew. Taste is a slight hint of some nice cherry, lots of dark fruit, roast, chocolate and coffee in there as well, some slight booze notes but a nice dry bitter finish. Good stuff.
